Because just about anything can be acquired through a subscription these days, it looks like Apple is readying an all-inclusive subscription service for users to access every facet of the Apple ecosystem for one transaction per month. A report by Bloomberg this week confirms that Apple’s planning an all-inclusive subscription called ‘Apple One‘ which could launch alongside the upcoming iPhone 12 at the Apple keynote in October. Sometimes, small games that come from humble beginnings can make it big. Just look at Limbo, Super Meat Boy and Minecraft — all of which has grown to become some of the most popular games around (ahem… Minecraft). And we’re expecting the new title to do a similar thing — Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is the newest party-mode title available on a bunch of platforms that takes the well-known Takeshi’s Castle gameshow and Total Wipeout and turns it into something you need to experience to understand. The best part? PS Plus subscribers are able to download it for free until…

Just because you’re at the bar, doesn’t mean you want to speak to every person in the bar. That’s basically what Twitter’s on about these days. Now, Twitter has officially rolled out a new feature that will help users dictate who can reply to their tweets and who cannot.  According to Twitter, the reply limiting feature was developed to increase the amount of “meaningful conversations” that take place on the platform, and to help people limit abuse and spam in their replies. In the greater scheme of things, it makes sense. People will have the option to only broadcast a…

Another year, another Note pinned to Samsung’s wall of great devices. If there was a hypothetical wall, and all of the devices were arranged according to looks, this one would no doubt be pinned at the number one spot. If they were arranged according to power and capability, it’ll also be crowned up top. But if it was arranged according to affordability, you’ll find it close to the bottom, along with all of the ‘Ultra’s’, Pro’s’ and ‘Plusses’.  As with most things this year, the Note 20 range is kind of underwhelming. Yes, the Note 20 Ultra 5G is a…

This week, Xiaomi announced a range of products to celebrate its 10th anniversary. We don’t know what we expected, other than new smartphones and maybe wearables. But what we got is scooters and a… wait for it… transparent OLED TV. Called the Mi TV LUX OLED Transparent Edition, the TV looks like a slate of glass in a frame, just as you’d expect a transparent TV to look like. So you’ll have a good look at the image on the TV as well as the plain wall and all the cables behind the TV.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MQZVNTufjw But you know what, it’s…

A few weeks ago Huawei overtook Samsung as the biggest smartphone maker in the world, thanks to it shipping more handsets between April and June. Now, Huawei may be running out of processors to put in its devices thanks to the US trade sanction implemented in 2019.  The trade sanctions came after pres. Donald Trump decided the company was building backdoors into its devices to spy on US citizens. If this sounds like the premise of an off-topic conspiracy video suggested to you on Youtube, we agree. But following the allegations from the Trump administration, it placed Huawei and 114…

Sometimes you don’t need all the bells and whistles on a phone to enjoy it. We’ve been long-running supporters of budget devices as they bring smarts to people who can’t afford the new R37k Galaxy Note 20. We recently got our hands on the newly launched Vivo Y30 device, and although it’s clear this is an entry-level smartphone, it does…

In another segment of ‘Things Facebook stole that no-one asked for’, Instagram just got its newest feature called Reels. Reels is supposed to be a TikTok knockoff feature built directly into Instagram Stories. It’s available worldwide now (including South Africa), so anyone can jump in and make short-form videos with weird filters and audio tracks.  Instagram’s Reels lets users create 15-second videos and sprinkle a little filter here and editing there. It works almost identically to TikTok, with similar controls but an added Insta-Story flare to it. So if you’re used to curating Insta-Stories or posting on Instagram, you don’t…
