“Nice bakkie. What does it come with?” “You know, the basics. Heated seats, power steering, bullet-resistant windows.” It’s an absurd conversation, something you’re likely to hear in a Guy Richie film and yet the new Volkswagen Amarok V6 is sporting just that. In a press release sent out this morning, VW announced that this new version of the Amarok bakkie is the “most powerful standard armoured double-cab bakkie in South Africa!” Doesn’t really sound like there’s much competition in that market but sure, it’s a nice little achievement to throw on the pamphlet. At least this is actually true, rather…

Spotify is a great app (that recently became even better thanks to a desktop design overhaul) but you know what could make it even better? Voice commands. Spotify has been testing a feature since 2019 that allows Spotify Premium users to issue orders to the music streaming app by saying, “Hey Spotify”. Word on the update went quiet right up until last night when it was discovered that Spotify was secretly rolling out the feature. Why Spotify isn’t making a big fuss out of this admittedly cool feature is beyond us, but it’s always better to undersell and over-deliver. Scattered…

Stepping on a Lego can suck, but what if you stepped on Lego with Lego. Adidas has unveiled a set of sneakers that can be customised with whatever Lego bricks you have lying around. The shoes, which are an offshoot of the Ultraboost DNA running shoes model, feature a whole load of actual Lego nubs to attach whatever bricks you want. Which is really cool considering you can take whatever colours you want to slap them onto the face of the shoe. It’s a really cool idea if you’re both a fan of Lego and walking around in what we assume to be…

Lenovo, they who make some rather decent gaming laptops, has had one of their latest gadgets leaked to the world and it’s… curvier than anyone expected. Gaming phones are a becoming more and more popular and clearly Lenovo wants to keep up with the products being pushed out by Asus. And from the looks of things, their latest gaming phone is set to challenge the competition. The images were leaked on the popular Chinese social media site Weibo and show of a phone that… bulges on the back panel. We know, it’s a strange thing to really take note of…

If we may sour the mood for a second, job hunting has become incredibly difficult in the last while. Even before the world was consumed by a pandemic, finding work was a challenge that’s just become even more taxing. So of course that means that crappy individuals would flock to LinkedIn, a place used by many people to search for jobs, to spin up a phishing campaign. The professional social media platform has reportedly been inundated with malware as users report inboxes flooded with messages that sound like tempting job offers but just turn out to be viruses or scammers…

We are often told that there are no stupid questions. But that’s a lie. There are stupid questions, and they all live in the same place:  Yahoo Answers. This is a place where anyone can ask whatever question they like and some random on the internet will provide an answer. Mocking Yahoo Answers users has been a fun time for many over the last few years, but it’s about to come to an end. Yahoo Answers is closing its doors for good, as confirmed by the company this morning. The site will continue to take questions up until 20 April,…

Okay, this is going to be a sentence that initially doesn’t make sense but bear with us: Oppo is reportedly developing a portless smartphone that supports… wired charging. We know, that doesn’t seem to make sense when you put it like that, but from what we’ve heard it sounds like it could be rather cool if it’s a real thing. While a portless smartphone isn’t an especially new idea (Xiaomi’s had one for some time now), those versions only supported wireless charging. Which leaves us with an obvious question: How does this actually work in practice? The leak claims that…

There are many things that a competent writer could do with a universe as vast and rich as Westeros. As it turns out, turning the events that led up to the iconic Game of Thrones story into a Broadway production is one such avenue worth exploring. A report from The Hollywood Reporter indicates that a theatrical adaption of author George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy world is in the works and honestly, it makes perfect sense. The intensity and drama of that world works beautifully on screen but on stage it has the potential to be theatre! If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones then you…

“Get ya data! Step right up and get ya data… for a small price, of course,” shouts MTN from the top of the roofs. At least, that’s what they’d be doing if they they didn’t just send out press releases for folks like us to write about. While data prices might not be the most exciting reading material, it is essential to keep yourself in the loop considering how monumentally upsetting those prices can be. However, MTN is seemingly doing its best to offer customers a data bundle that’s more accessible than most… even if it is capped. Don’t get…
