Apple is known for doing things that many would, at the time, consider… zany would be a kind way of putting it. Let’s be honest, when Steve Jobs walked onstage and showed off the first iPhone, many called him mad to be wearing such a warm turtleneck indoors and for thinking that a computer could work in such a tiny shell. Yet here we are. Still, when Apple patents a cheese grater design for a possible future iPhone, then even those diehard fans might just question the company. Discovered yesterday, it seems Apple wants to take that awful hole-y design…

Google Maps is a marvellous little app that probably harvests a little more info than we’d like, but even it can’t help you navigate a sprawling mall. It’s happened to the best of us: You drive for ages to eventually arrive at your location, get to the front gate and then realise that you still need to make it through a gigantic building; Google Maps can only take you so far. Yet it appears that that’s about to change… Google is rolling out an update that will take the Google Maps Augmented Reality directions and have them work inside select…

If this piece of news had arrived in two days time, we would have assumed it was an April Fools Day joke. That’s apparently not the case: Volkswagen intends to rebrand its US-based division as Voltswagen to indicate the company’s commitment to electric vehicles. It would sound utterly ridiculous, if the actual pun wasn’t so enjoyable. This news does come by way of a leak, so take it with a grain of salt. It seems that someone was a touch overeager in publishing a press release that was intended for 29 April. The actual message was incomplete, so clearly some…

Apple Pay FNB

Apple Pay is a great little service that has managed to dodge South Africa for years. While we might receive a shipment of every new iPhone, our little Southern country has been locked out of some of the company’s better services thanks to a few different reasons, first and foremost that many of our banks don’t actually support the app. Yet that doesn’t appear to be the case for some as a select range of banks will now support Apple Pay. It’s about damn time. If you’re unsure about what Apple Pay is, it’s essentially an app that allows users…

Sony is known for developing it fantastic cameras, we can’t deny that but the camera we’ll be talking about today… well, it initially seemed like a great piece of hardware. While the Sony A7 III has been one our Top 10 System Cameras for a few months, it seems it has a major defect that’s resulted in Sony facing legal action. A US-based lawsuit was brought against Sony after several A7 III owners discovered their shutter completely destroyed, which obviously renders the camera unusable. According to DIY Photography, the lawsuit states that, despite Sony’s claims that the A7 III features a…

The Apple Watch is a great little wearable that does exactly what you need it to while looking rather snazzy at the same time. Yet one thing we could complain about is that it’s rather… fragile. It’s certainly not the most robust smartwatch on the market meaning that folks that like to exercise and do other strange things with their bodies will most likely go to one of Apple’s competitors for a sturdier smartwatch. So the report that the tech goliath is working on a more durable, rugged smartwatch makes a great deal of sense to us. The report in…

Hey, social media platforms, we get it. Stories are huge, right? They’re an easy way for people to upload and share exactly what they’re doing at any given moment without worrying about the hassle of making an actual post. But when even Slack is thinking of incorporating them, then you know it’s time to stop. The business focused collaboration app is reportedly looking into expanding it’s functionality and the inclusion of video stories is just one such feature that may be implemented. During a recent Clubhouse discussion, Slack CEO Stuart Butterfield confirmed such nifty additions as “voice messages” for contacts…

Over a year in pandemic living and it feels like masks, as essential as they still are, have become more of a fashion statement than anyone expected. As is the case with all things fashion, that’s just an excuse for companies to push whatever innovation they think people will lap up. Whether it’s LG’s admittedly cool PuriCare mask or… this thing that Razer has confirmed they’re actually making. Project Hazel, as it was titled back at CES when it was first revealed, is Razer’s attempt at scoring big in the high-end wearables market. Honestly, we’re amazed that this thing is…

While we’ll openly admit that we prefer Spotify’s mobile app to its older desktop counterpart, it’s not something we’d discard entirely. When you’re hard at work on your computer and wish to drown out the sounds of a frustrating world, it’s much easier to just open the desktop version of Spotify than fumble around with your phone. It’s a good thing then that the desktop app is receiving a much needed makeover. Spotify announced last night that it was beginning to roll out an update that will improve the design of the desktop app which, if you ask us, should…
