Twitter has not only become the place you turn to when you need to commiserate how miserable existence is with like-minded folks (unlike those perpetually happy Instagrammers), it’s also one of the primary locations people source their news and public announcements from. Given the massive install base, it makes sense that public figures and politicians would head to Twitter before anyone else given the immediacy of sending a tweet. Yet Twitter has also been more than a little… relaxed with its terms and conditions, especially when it came to politicians. That seems to be changing as Twitter has confirmed that…

If you’re still using iOS 9 then we’ve got some bad news for you. Firstly, you should probably have already ditched that operating system for something at least vaguely recent and secondly, you’ll need to be making that jump fairly soon anyway. That is, if you insist on using WhatsApp in the near future. The instant messaging app has dropped support for iOS 9 in the latest update meaning if you want to keep on using the platform you’ll need to update to at least iOS 10 according to a recent post on WhatsApp’s official blog. Of course, that would also…

PayPal FNB

If you live in South Africa and have tried using PayPal, you’re no doubt aware of how difficult the process is. It’s bad enough that FNB is currently the only bank in South Africa (at least for now if Flutterwave has anything to say about it) that allows customers to not only access their PayPal accounts but also withdraw the cash deposited in there but the situation become even more frustrating a few days ago. According to several FNB customers over on Twitter, their PayPal accounts were locked; they were unable to access the funds within them and the process…

Honestly, we don’t know what’s worse: Being flooded by ads on social media or being flooded by ads on social media that have been designed to target your specific interests. It’s creepy, to say the least knowing that some faceless entity on the internet can monitor your activity and recommend you products that it thinks you might enjoy. This is about to become a serious issue on the hyper-popular app TikTok which has confirmed that it’s making personalised ads for all users mandatory. It used to be that you could opt-out of personalised ads but the option is being removed…

Sony’s Play at Home initiative was a nice little treat for PlayStation owners back when things started to go awry in 2020. The company announced that would hand out a few free games when everyone went into lockdown during the height of the global pandemic, just to keep folks a little more entertained and distracted from the chaos of the outside world. While Sony hasn’t been especially generous with its freebies in comparison to the likes of Epic Games, it’s clearly trying to turn that around as it’s announced a total a ten free games for all PlayStation owners in…

Many would still consider the iPad to be an essential piece of tech. Even before the world figured out that working from home is not only possible but in many cases better than a dedicated office space, Apple’s iPad Pro was an excellent tablet for designers, creators, people who needed a more robust Kindle or snotty kids looking to kill a few minutes with whatever free game they can find on the App Store. Folks looking to upgrade or figure out what makes iPad’s so appealing in the first place should probably wait just a little longer before they purchase…

Sure, Clubhouse is the hot ticket right now that everyone’s trying to clone right now but before audio-centric social media platforms were all the rage, TikTok was the thing to copy. Frankly, it’s still the thing that people want to replicate as Instagram puts more focus on its Reels feature and Google goes all-in on YouTube Shorts, which is finally launching in the US. YouTube Shorts was announced last year in September and was initially launched in India only but the beta has reached a point where it’s reached to spread its wings and fly on over to North America. Of course,…

If you’ve played a Yakuza game you know exactly what to expect from Like A Dragon. You also have no idea what to expect, as the latest entry in the beloved franchise is nothing like those that came before it. The general tone, consistently engaging writing and buzzing open world you’re familiar are all present but the actual gameplay is so fundamentally different, it doesn’t feel like a Yakuza game. Which is by design. This a game that wants to ditch the confining roots of its past and try something new. And oh boy, does it succeed. To put everything into context, Like A Dragon isn’t…

Clubhouse is popping off right now. You might not be aware of it, considering you still need an invitation to make use of the audio-only social media platform and it hasn’t really penetrated South Africa yet, but Clubhouse is steadily growing in popularity every day. In fact, it’s growing at such a rapid pace that everyone is trying to grab a piece of it. Several well-established platforms such as Twitter and Facebook have begun implementing audio-only chatrooms for users; Twitter Spaces launched a few months ago while Facebook is still in the process of running Clubhouses’ DNA through its cloning…
