With the launch of the next generation of consoles imminent later in 2020, industry analysts have begun speculating that Sony and Microsoft may have to delay the launch of their latest consoles due to the rapidly spreading coronavirus. Delays and cancellations due to the coronavirus seem to be the news of the week. While yesterday we reported on several companies, including Amazon, LG and Nvidia, pulling out of Mobile World Congress 2020 due to fears of spreading the coronavirus. Now there are fears that the virus that the virus, which has claimed roughly over a thousand lives at the…

If you’re a Vodacom subscriber it’s just become a whole lot simpler to purchase new games, battle passes, Office 365 and a variety of other Microsoft software. A report out of Motherboard has confirmed that several email apps available on iOS and Mac have been quietly scraping user’s emails and selling the data on to third-party companies. It’s rather sneaky and more than a little underhanded. For those of you maybe not in the know, data scraping has been a big concern in the world of online privacy for some time now. The process is as simple as it sounds: Computers trawl through copious amounts of data, emails in this case, and extract any useful information that may be important to anyone looking at gaining insight into…

The manned SpaceX flight would see the crew of The Dragon docking with the International Space Station which would serve as a significant landmark for Elon Musk’s private space travel division. One might say it’s a giant leap for Musk-kind. SpaceX, which is arguably the coolest name for a private space-faring company, will soon launch a crew of actual humans into space aboard the company’s very own Dragon space shuttle. While we initially knew that SpaceX was planning to conduct its first manned launch sometime this year, it has now been confirmed that the working date will be 7th of…

While the realm of virtual reality certainly holds many amazing promises, the ability to reconnect with loved ones that have unfortunately left us too early is one such feature that sounds like a positive, but is it really? It’s an incredibly daunting thing, virtual reality. The digital trickery pulled on the human brain can often lead to some really uncomfortable and disturbing places, and I’m not talking about motion sickness. The Uncanny Valley that separates reality from fiction is a space few people have played around in, largely because it makes most of us feel so uncomfortable, but that hasn’t…

You know what they say, you should never trust a robot arm to do what a human can do. Apparently that’s the case when it comes to Motorola’s new folding phone, which unfortunately stopped folding after being tested by CNET through a special machine designed especially for… folding. Isn’t technology magical? According to the experiment conducted by CNET, the new Razr was only able to fold 27,000 times. CNET set a baseline for the experiment, with the expected number being 100,000 folds, a benchmark which was soundly beaten the last time CNET used the imaginatively named “FoldBot” on the Galaxy…

Clarifying why users’ local search functionality was broken following the latest Windows 10 update, Microsoft has really stepped in a pile of dung after stating the cause for the break was “a temporary server-side issue”. Which had everyone scratching their heads. Why would a fault in one of Microsoft’s servers lead to users not being able to search their local hard drives? That sounds like there’s some sharing of personal data going on and absolutely no one wants that. Many have taken to criticising Microsoft for their lack of transparency and the dubious ethics involved around this situation, with some…

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020 convention has just been hit with another wave of withdrawals as concerns around the spread of the coronavirus have escalated. The virus, which has infected roughly 40,000 people and killed 910 (at the time of writing), has been cited as the reason why many more companies are officially withdrawing from MWC. Announced late on Sunday night, Nvidia confirmed they won’t attend MWC this year, making them the first American company to withdraw, alongside non-American Ericsson and LG who announced their withdrawal last week. Now, the latest no-go for MWC is Amazon, arguably the biggest…

Elon Musk, the man of a thousand innovative ideas and a thousand less innovate tweets, is once again back to his usual antics on the Twitterverse. This time, he’s teamed up with actor and writer Sasha Baron Cohen in an effort to take down Facebook. Just by being exceptionally rude about Mark Zuckerberg’s social media platform. Facebook isn’t exactly a new target for criticism, as many have rallied against the site following numerous privacy breaches and a general lack of policing regarding fake news —  the sort often spread around by your strange aunt in the middle of the Karoo.…
