It’s no secret that we at Stuff love The Last of Us. It’s one of our favourite PlayStation exclusives of all time and ranks pretty high in the Overall Favourite Game category. Just give our review of The Last of Us Part II a read to see why we love the franchise so much. Thus, when an HBO series adaption was announced, we were bowled over with excitement. The series debut is still a ways off, but the latest news to come of it has left us more excited for a show than we thought possible. Announced last night, we now know who’ll be playing…

We at Stuff have realised that working from home has taken a bit of a toll on our data use. While we used to be able to simply head out and leech off of the office Wi-Fi, that’s become a touch harder to do nowadays. So, given that we’re all in desperate need to still connect to the internet, while not breaking our bank accounts and doing our best not to leave the house (plenty of variables involved in this equation), we thought we’d help out where we can. Thus, from this week on we’ll be compiling a list of the best…

Working from home in 2020 has pushed more and more people to use Slack but, while the office-focused instant messaging app is both incredibly popular and useful, it’s not completely perfect. Especially when it accidentally exposes user’s passwords because of a bug that was patched into the app towards the end of last year. Don’t panic, you information is probably safe but at the same time, you should probably change your password if you’re using the Android version of Slack. You don’t need some stranger poking around your work DMs, right? The aforementioned bug resulted in Android user’s passwords being…

The wonderful thing about using a fairly autonomous algorithm to control the kinds of content that are deemed popular on your social media platform is that you always have a scapegoat for when people start asking questions. That’s what Instagram is using as a pseudo-excuse as they also flat out admit that they’re trying to suppress specific content that’s being posted onto the site’s Reels feature. Instagram has stated that it’s changing its algorithm to no longer display reels that feature the TikTok watermark in a bid to stop recycled content. People can call them out all they want (because…

What did we tell you yesterday? We said that it wouldn’t be long before load shedding came back but honestly, we didn’t expect it to be this soon. After load shedding from 10pm to 5am this morning, Eskom has announced that Stage 3 load shedding will be active from 1pm today through to 6am tomorrow morning. Again, it’s a temporary period but what stings most about this one is that the announcement is only coming 30 minutes before the power is meant to die for some people. Great job, Eskom. Your organisational skills are unmatched. Eskom has stated that this…

When you first pick up the DualSense Controller of the PS5, it becomes clear how important this little piece of hardware is for the overall experience. Thus, when you begin to feel something going very wrong with it, it’s more than enough to get you worried. Even if this thing didn’t cost R1,500, just knowing that your shiny new next-gen controller is experiencing the dreaded drift is rather distressing. You’ve probably heard of controller drift in the past. It’s been a problem for a while now, most commonly occurring in Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Cons. Controller drift occurs when there’s a malfunction…

Well, this certainly wasn’t the news we were expecting to wake up to this morning. SpaceX’s Starlink low-latency, high-speed internet devices can be pre-ordered in South Africa. Right up until this morning it was only available to certain locations in the United States. If you’re wondering why this is such a big deal, Starlink is essentially a service that looks to provide powerful internet connections to the world through low-earth orbit satellites. It’s an immensely exciting prospect that might do away with unreliable ISPs and shoddy connections. The fact that such an advanced service is already available in South Africa…

Remember that time you got lost in the shopping centre as a kid? You wanted to look at the toy section but your parents decided to walk on with their trolley. In that moment, that brief instance of confusion, the cosy world you knew was replaced with sheer terror. You’re lost and alone, the aisle stretching around you, the shelves consuming your cone of vision. It dawns on you how small you are compared to the rest of the world and, as you start breaking into tears, you dad swings his head around the corner and swoops in to carry…

We always hate to be the bearer of bad news but technically it’s Eskom that comes bearing ill tidings. As always, we regret to inform you that load shedding is back from 10 pm tonight, but don’t fall apart just yet because it’s only sticking around to 5 am tomorrow morning. So not a long period without power but you should probably ensure all your frozen foods are good to keep overnight. Oh, and maybe bring a phone charger to the office tomorrow. https://twitter.com/CityPowerJhb/status/1359106753246482436 At least this load shedding won’t last too long… Eskom has stated that this bout of…

You have a small business? If you don’t, maybe consider opening one, we hear they’re a great hobby to keep you going over the weekend… and constantly stressing throughout the week.
