You ever looked at one of those fancy Samsung folding phones and thought, “It’s cool… but I don’t know”. It’s clearly become a problem for that particular side of the smartphone producer’s portfolio as a new “Buy and Try” program is being introduced that will be applied to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G smartphones. It’s really not a complicated process; if anything it’s just a very generous trial period. The “Buy and Try” program will allow users to purchase one of the bendy smartphones mentioned above, use it as much as they…

While our general government and overall public facilities and infrastructure might be an absolute mess, there’s one thing South Africa handles better than most, and that’s consumer rights. The Competition Commission is at it again, although this time it’s not going after everyone’s favourite wireless-only ISP, Rain. Another week, another ridiculous scheme to bring in more money by the SABC. While South Africans are still getting over the stupidity of attempting to extend the TV license requirements to any device capable of streaming video content, the SABC is trying to implement further plans to squeeze more cash out of the nation. During a recent Portfolio Committee on Communications meeting (which is over four hours long, never let it be said we don’t suffer for you), Deputy Minister of Communications Pinky Kekana suggested that the SABC be declared a Public Service Media Broadcaster. Why would they want to…

Spotify is about to become even bigger! Our favourite music streaming service held a massive event last night that highlighted some of the bigger changes and improvements coming to the service, yet perhaps the most exciting is how it’s expanding internationally. The app is broadening it’s audio range to 80+ new markets around the world, while adding 36 new languages for folks who might not want to browse their playlists in English. While we already have access to Spotify, it would be cool to see some new South African languages included, but for the rest of the world, it’s nice…
