Huawei has taken the wrappers off it’s three new P30 range devices: The P30 Lite, P30 and P30 Pro at a press event in Paris, France.

Huawei showed off its forthcoming Mate X folding phone-let (or tab-phone) at a media event in Johannesburg today. While we were able to hold the device, we weren’t allowed to fold it, so we had to rope in the help of a Huawei representative for the video below. Nonetheless, we got to check out the camera setup and try various apps, and our early impressions suggest it’s going to be a highly desirable — and crazy expensive — when it arrives in June or July of this year.
Huawei has long been rumoured to have its own mobile operating system in reserve, rumours that reach back to 2012. There’s also apparently an OS waiting for the company’s computer products
You’d think Huawei would have learnt from its past mistakes when it comes to its smartphone marketing campaigns. You’d think that some of the best smartphone cameras around would encourage it to use them for the promotional pics. Or that previous incidents would see it using a disclaimer like ‘images simulated’. But no. Once again the company’s been caught using images shot on DSLRs to promote an upcoming device. In this instance, the upcoming P30 Pro smartphone that’s expected to have some serious camera chops.
The newest sensation to hit these all-important devices are foldable screens. Last week Samsung got the jump on its competitors by announcing its Galaxy Fold before the annual Mobile World Congress. As the cellular industry gathered in Barcelona this week, Huawei announced their own foldable, the Mate X, the day before the main conference began on Monday.
Data-only network Rain has announced it’s going to start offering 5G commercial services in South Africa in September 2019.
Ahead of MWC this week, Huawei showed off three new devices from their expanding Windows 10 lineup: a refreshed MateBook X Pro, as well as the MateBook 13 and the MateBook 14.

Huawei has announced that they’re returning to Paris, France, to unveil the P30 range of smartphones. This after they announced the iconic triple-camera P20 Pro in the same city in 2018.
