Given how the country seems to be on the verge of a full-blown COVID-19 second wave, maybe staying home and relaxing for Christmas isn’t such a bad idea. You still have a load of stuff you need to watch to clear that backlog and DStv wants to assist you in your quest by making a whole load of premium content available to everyone. Well, we say “everyone”. In reality, it’s everyone that’s got some kind of DStv package. Starting from 16 December, you’ll be able to access content that might not necessarily be included in your DStv package. The offer…

If you’re not constantly sending stickers on WhatsApp, you either need to update that app really bad or your currently sitting on Facebook moaning about all the ways the youth communicates that just don’t make sense. Stickers are big for the instant messaging app and there’s no sign of WhatsApp slowing down their implementation. In fact, stickers are about to become a whole lot more prevalent as a new update brings third-party stickers to WhatsApp’s desktop client. Hot off the release of the wallpaper update, it’s clear everyone’s favourite (or most hated) messaging app isn’t slowing down as the year starts to…

The iPhone 12 is on the cusp of dropping in South Africa and while there are several places you could pick it up, Telkom wants you to remember that it exists. The internet service provider (because who has a landline these days?) has confirmed that it will be stocking Apple’s latest smartphone and anyone who’s keen on taking their offer up need only pre-order from today, 11 December. The actual devices will only arrive on 18 December, which isn’t surprising given that’s when it’s releasing generally in South Africa. Telkom’s rather late announcement comes just over a week since Vodacom…

Having to replace a bank card is the worst feeling in the world. The frustration is almost tangible and having to wait in a long queue at the bank just makes the experience altogether unbearable. Thus, FNB has decided it would be much more beneficial for customers to wait in a long queue at Clicks rather than the bank. The two companies have partnered to allow FNB Easy Pay As You Use and FNB Easy Smart Option account holders to replace their lost and/or stolen bank cards at one of 400 Clicks stores nationwide. This move furthers the partnership of the…

We’re sure that if you had to ask new South African airline Lift whether launching during a pandemic was a fun time, you’d be met with all kinds of furrowed brows and sardonic chuckles. The Global Aviation Operations owned airline took off properly for the first time this morning at 06:30 in from Joburg to Cape Town. Just twenty minutes later, Lift’s first Cape Town to Joburg flight took off too, so it’s been a big day for everyone involved. When asked…

WhatsApp has been doing a great deal to try and convince us that it’s a great platform to shop on. While it’s certainly a move designed to target small businesses, it’s still something that could benefit consumers in the long run. The latest addition WhatsApp Business is the much requested cart function, meaning that users can add and purchase multiple different products at once. It’s an essential part of any online store and the fact that the function is only being added now is surprising. Still, given how much more energy WhatsApp is focusing on it’s Business wing it’s a…

While Facebook, Twitter and Instagram continue on with all the fake news and garbage usually associated with social media, Reddit has been sitting in its special little corner having a party with Rick Astley. Sure, it did some not great things with user data but let’s try and work past that. Reddit has released some interesting stats for 2020, including which posts were its most appreciated. By “appreciated” we just mean they got the most upvotes (or fake internet points or whatever you want to call them). Fortunately for everyone, the most upvoted post wasn’t some influencer but about singer…

The future should be a fun place. Flying cars, pills that make you live until you’re 150 and automatic sliding doors with screens on them. The first two might be some way off but that third innovation is closer than you think. LG has partnered with Assa Abloy Entrance Systems (what a name) to develop a range of doors just like the ones mentioned above. The automatic sliding doors will be mainly transparent but will feature an OLED display. These screens will be able to greet customers, display ads and show important messages. Great, even our doors will start showing…
