Samsung’s newly unveiled solar-powered TV remote might be the next big craze for electronic companies looking to try and convince the public that they actually care about the environment. Debuted last night, Samsung’s Solar Cell Remote Control is exactly what it says on the box: a TV remote powered by the sun. It’s actually a great idea if you think about it; no more having to worry about throwing out dead batteries and rushing to the shops to buy replacements. The planet has let out a small sigh of relief. Samsung’s stated that the Solar Cell Remote will assist in…

You never give the robot the ability to recover. It’s an unspoken rule of the future, or at the very least it will be a rule once the robot wars kick off in earnest. Yet this future law isn’t stopping researchers at Zhejiang University and the University of Edinburgh from doing just that. In a paper published in academic journal Science Robotics, those clever folks documented an AI reinforcement system that allowed their robot dog, which looks similar to Boston Dynamics hound Spot, to both learn how to walk by itself and recover when it falls. The dog, named Jueying by the…

Microsoft Teams might have been one of the most essential apps of 2020 (for both business and socialising if you ask Microsoft) but let’s be real for a second: Do we really need a dedicated button to pop in and out of the app? Dell seems to think such a shortcut is exactly what consumers require. Launching next month, Dell’s new range of monitors (three new units in total) will feature a button dedicated to accessing Microsoft Teams. Instead of clicking the icon on your taskbar, you can just poke a button on the screen. Kinda feels like solving something that…

Minecraft Earth was set to be a massive success when it was first announced but it seems that it was just taking too long to make the money Microsoft was looking for. The AR mobile game that allowed players to build and explore in the real world with a Minecraft overlay projected through their phones (think  Pokémon GO but instead of catching cute virtual monsters you’re building digital treehouses with blocks) will be terminated in June. “Minecraft Earth was designed around free movement and collaborative play – two things that have become near impossible in the current global situation,” notes…

Podcasts are a booming industry right now so in order to get in on that action, Twitter has acquired the start up Breaker, an app that specialised in podcast distribution with an extra emphasis on social interaction and community engagement. Of course, this is Twitter we’re talking about so obviously the social media platform has no interest in the “podcast” side of Breaker and instead wants to utilise the team’s social elements to improve Spaces. What is Spaces, you ask? Don’t worry, it’s not that you haven’t been paying attention but more because no-one actually cares about Twitter Spaces; hence…

Most folks turned to other forms of communication to stay in touch with friends and family, WhatsApp being one such medium. Obviously. And the service has a very good New Year’s Eve indeed. WhatsApp is already one of the most…

The Dolby Atmos soundbar isn’t exactly an original idea. Sonos has a habit of presenting its products like they’re revolutionary, ground-breaking pieces of tech. The Sonos Arc is no different as the company is pushing this as a massive step forward in soundbar technology. The brand is so ubiquitous with this realm of tech that most of the time they can afford to describe their products like their the next major innovation and while Sonos might not have been the folks that invented Dolby Atmos soundbars, it certainly wants you to believe that it perfected the system with the Sonos…
