In 2020, OPPO entered the South African market with a bang, bringing its powerful, yet affordable tech along for the ride. The smartphone manufacturer launched its A72 in South Africa, setting the stage to bring its upcoming devices to local shores. Now, OPPO has partnered with MTN to bring us its beautiful devices through contract options.

Even though the South African consumer is spoilt for choice when it comes to selecting a smartphone, but premium specs are generally linked to a higher price. Now, OPPO comes in with state-of-the-art tech at a far more affordable price — now available at one of South Africa’s leading network providers.

“We are excited to be partnering with MTN, one of the best networks in South Africa and see it as a long-term commitment into the country. We believe in technology for mankind and with our affordable handsets, are able to reach an even wider audience,” says Liam Faurie, Head of GTM Operations at OPPO South Africa.

Its range of smartphones is ideal for people from just about any walk of life, really. Everyone from professionals, students, travellers and homebodies will enjoy picking up, and living with one of OPPO’s devices. The range of handsets offer large displays for consuming multimedia content, a bigger battery when compared to competing brands, and the latest in camera tech with AI, without compromising on performance.

“Having OPPO’s high-end and superbly crafted handsets available at MTN stores offers our customers a wider selection of affordable devices that do not trade-off features for price. As a leading network provider in South Africa, we work towards providing accessibility, affordability and superior products and services to our locals. At MTN we believe that everyone deserves a benefit of a modern connected life hence we have invested heavily on our network so that customers get the best connectivity experience on their devices,” says Nico Jacobs, Executive: Sales and Distribution at MTN South Africa.

OPPO South Africa has confirmed that it will bring additional devices in the existing A-series to South Africa in the near future. The OPPO A15 and A53s are available on contract from MTN starting today, and come with the following specifications:

“We understand the importance of technology and remain committed to investing in this locally by empowering citizens, businesses and the economy alike. With MTN, we’re able to reach more South Africans, giving them an opportunity to own world-class technology at a price that doesn’t break the bank” says Faurie.
