Over the last year, Samsung has released three different phones with curved displays – and if rumours are any indication, we may see a phone with a proper foldable screen come early next year. What exactly does a foldable display look like on a smartphone? We may have our first indication, thanks to illustrations included with a United States patent application from the company. The one seen up top (and more fully below) is the most fascinating of the bunch, showing a tube that you can easily carry around in your pocket – which has a display you can roll…

Sonos has been at it for a while, but the company still makes the best multiroom audio systems on the market today. However, if you have a Sonos system, the debut of Apple Music probably hasn’t made much of an impact on your world. That’s because it wasn’t compatible at launch in late June, and now – five months later – Apple’s streaming music service still doesn’t work with Sonos, despite assurances it would happen “ASAP.” But that’s changing very soon, as the companies just announced plans to link up starting in December. On 15 December, Apple Music will become…

The iPhone 6s is just slightly thicker and heavier than the previous model, which seems due to the addition of 3D Touch technology – although it could be course correction after bendgate revealed that, yes, a thin smartphone can be bent with some effort. In any case, this year’s slight bounce-back could be temporary: Japanese blog Macotakara says its sources indicate that Apple plans to shave at least 1mm off the current thickness for next year’s iPhone 7. And how will the company accomplish that? By jettisoning the headphone jack. We’ve heard this rumour in the past, but it’s never…

The Galaxy S6 is a lovely handset. It’s sleek, sexy, and powerful, which is why it’s currently sitting at the number one spot in our Top 10 Smartphones list. But it’s not perfect. One major gripe that quite a few Android fans have with the handset is its lack of expandable storage. Unlike its LG G4 rival, the Galaxy S6 has neither a microSD slot or a removable battery – but the former could change for Samsung’s next flagship. According to the latest rumour courtesy of an Italian Samsung blog, the Samsung Galaxy S7 will see the microSD slot return.…

Huawei has revealed two rose gold versions of its smartwatch, and they’ll make a substantial dent in your wallet. Both models are forged from rose gold-plated stainless steel, and the cheaper $700 (R9,800) option features a genuine brown alligator leather strap. Another $100  (R1,400) more will net you the rose gold-plated stainless steel link band version. The Xbox One’s backwards compatibility feature is one skill that sets it apart from its Sony rival. At least, it used to be. It turns out that the PlayStation 4 can also happily emulate PS2 and PSOne games. But don’t get too excited just yet. Developers have reportedly had access to emulation software since January last year, letting them convert their older titles to a PS4-friendly format. The discovery was made when Eurogamer uncovered four older Star Wars titles that are included in the limited edition Star Wars PS4 console bundle. The older titles were clearly running on an emulator…

Excited as we are about the continuing advancement of high-end flying drones, it’s the mid-range quadcopters that are more likely to sell to newcomers. So the announcement of the Bebop 2 is good news indeed. Parrot has announced the second-generation version of its reasonably affordable drone, the first model of which we saw earlier this year. We liked it quite a bit, although it came with a couple notable limitations – most significant of which was its 12-minute flight time. Luckily, the Bebop 2 makes big strides in that department. The new drone boasts 25 minutes of flight time, doubling…

There’s no need for us to tell you the horrors of a dead battery before your night’s finished. With no apps at your disposal, you’re forced to manually call a taxi from a non-existent payphone, rather than just paging Uber for a pickup. Fast-charging tech like Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3 – which manages to juice up handsets up to 80% in 35 minutes – go a long way to alleviate battery drain, but Huawei’s latest prototype leaves those number in the dust. The Chinese smartphone giant has shown off a fast-charging power pack, which boast some impressive figures. It can fill up…

Call of Duty has increasingly come to embody the modern day woes of Madonna. After riding the cultural zeitgeist for so long and making a truckload of cash in the process, its sales figures are still good but not what they used to be. MOBAs offer a deeper gaming experience and RPGs have eaten into the shooting mechanics CoD once ruled over alone. Time to shuffle offstage? No. Black Ops 3 is here to show these new starlets what for. Fallout 4 and League of Legends be damned, CoD BLOPS 3 still calls the FPS shots with high production values…
