Huawei has revealed two rose gold versions of its smartwatch, and they’ll make a substantial dent in your wallet.
Both models are forged from rose gold-plated stainless steel, and the cheaper $700 (R9,800) option features a genuine brown alligator leather strap. Another $100 (R1,400) more will net you the rose gold-plated stainless steel link band version.
Looks aside, the innards of both timepieces are the same, with the same 1.4in 286ppi AMOLED display, Snapdragon 400 processor and 512MB of RAM running the Android Wear show.
The standard Huawei Watch was already the most expensive Android Wear offering before Tag Heuer’s R21,000 smartwatch came along, and these newer limited edition gold options are clearly aimed at those with a little extra cash to burn.
They don’t come close to the most expensive Apple Watch Edition of course, but that is made from solid 18-carat rose gold, after all.
There’s no word if the gold Huawei Watch will hit non-American shores, but we’ve contacted Huawei to find out, and will update this story accordingly.
