While it’s been a big evening for Apple, maybe one of the most significant announcements linked to the iPhone 12 wasn’t the power or size of the device. Nope, one of the wildest nuggets of information is that the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max won’t ship with chargers or earphones. Yeah, you read that correctly. That’s a bold move that also certainly fits with Apple’s MO at this point. During the announcement of the iPhone 12, Apple tried to spin it at the exclusion of these items was an effort by them to cut down…

This was the big one, folks. While it might be coming a little later than usual (what hasn’t in this lovely year) Apple has finally confirmed and unveiled the iPhone 12 series. Announced tonight during the company’s press conference, we now know exactly what the iPhone 12 is all about and, shocking absolutely no-one, it’s not exactly all that much of a deviation from previous devices. Having said that, it would be unfair to just say they’re like all the others because there are some cool new additions to the phones, so let’s break down exactly what we’re working with…

Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped was the first video game I ever owned. Actually, scratch that, it was the first game I ever played! It’s been just under a score since I first played the Crash Bandicoot series and while it may have fallen into ill repute with some of those less than stellar (and actually really bad) PS2 games, those first three games back on the original PlayStation stand the test of time as really engaging, tough-as-nails platformers. Helped along by a zany cast of characters, I’d argue that genetically altered bandicoot, equipped with cargo shorts for that perfect 90’s look, is maybe…

WhatsApp is one of Stuff’s favourite apps. Not because it’s especially unique or fun, it’s just the most useful means of communication if you’re living in South Africa. It’s quick, precise and most importantly, it’s essentially free to use if you’re on a Wi-Fi connection and costs a minimal amount of data if you’re out and about. The Facebook-owned instant messaging app is constantly growing and improving and until such time as we’re required to have a Facebook account to use it, WhatsApp is our go-to app. So how exactly is WhatsApp going to expand in the future? To ensure everyone…

At some point every South African has come into contact with the Worms franchise. Mainly because it was in every single Spur and/or Wimpy and everyone had at least one friend with one of the games. The classic turn-based combat game has made a name for itself by just being a whole load of fun and it’s been a while since the series really added much to the established formula. Which isn’t a bad thing. Don’t fix what isn’t broken, right? Well, clearly Team 17 was growing a little tired with Worms and have done something a little different to their…

Despite some flip-flopping on the topic and Sony executives insisting that backwards compatibility isn’t a big priority for the PS5, and then suddenly deciding that it was, in fact, a big deal for the company, we’ve finally settled on some kind of future for the feature going forward. In case you missed the news, Sony has confirmed that every PS4 game, bar ten,  will be playable on the PS5. With the launch of digital-only consoles, it seems like playing old games has become more complicated than ever. Now that’s only a half-truth because, while backwards compatibility has become more complicated…

How do we all feel about the colour green? Oh, good you’re a fan. What’s that? You’re saying that you prefer green colours to emit from certain pieces of pricey technology in a neon haze that no doubt could serve as a brand identity for a company that’s very much leant into that image? Well, how about that. Have you heard of Razer? They’re exactly the company you’re looking for to cater to your highly specific tastes. I’m amazed you hadn’t heard of them sooner, or at the very least seen them. They’re hard to miss, what with all that RGB lighting…

Mortal Kombat is one of the most cherished and respected video game franchises around and not just because it was literally the reason parental guidance ratings were invented in the first place. The hyper-violent franchise is known for comically over-the-top fatalities and an expansive cast, one that in recent years has been bolstered by some A-tier guest characters. Some people hate that Mortal Kombat has included such fighters as Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Leatherface but honestly, we think it’s damn cool. The guest character roster has just grown even bigger following yesterday’s announcement that the next big get for…

It’s the time of year when computer hardware developers unveil what they’ve got in store. Nvidia got out there a month ago showing off the new RTX 3000 Series, while AMD quietly sat on its next big announcement. That is, until last night when the company announced its new series Ryzen 5000 processors. It’s more than just an impressive title, these chips represent a massive step forward AMD’s technology as they’ll also feature the company’s next-gen Zen 3 architecture. Which is all to say that these new processors, which will be available in the beginning of November, are packing some…
