As it goes, WhatsApp’s gearing up to roll out an update that will bring some new features to users utilising the app on iOS devices. According to WABetaInfo, incoming features will be a treasure trove, including changes to the search bar, a mute always option and the long-awaited expiring media feature.
iOS users will have access to a larger search bar, which will allow you to search chats, people or media. You’ll also be able to only allow WhatsApp access to certain albums or pictures in your phone’s media library.
Another feature that’ll allow even more control over what you see, you’ll finally be able to mute a chat forever, instead of the required time-limited mute options. A new catalogue shortcut will allow business WhatsApp accounts to easily allow customers access to your products at the tap of a button.
What we’ve really been waiting for, however, is the addition of expiring media or ‘self-destructing’ media. This is something that’ll allow users to share an image/video/GIF with a contact and after it’s been viewed it’ll disappear.
All of the abovementioned features will come to iOS in due time, with WABetaInfo noting that there is no set release date for the rollout.
