Now that Changan has set up shop in South Africa, it’s time to start pumping. On the menu for the company in 2027 are three EVs — the Nevo Q05, Nevo Q06, and the refreshed Deepal S07, joining a brand-new plug-in hybrid model. All four, as well as the larger Nevo sub-brand, got their start at the Paris Motor Show 2026 last week.
Nevo, gonna happen

First up is the all-electric Nevo Q05, launching first in Europe in Q1 2027. South Africa will only get hold of the car sometime in Q3, bringing with it a dual-motor system that produces 120kW and 190Nm. A 51.9kWh battery lies underneath it all, with Nevo claiming 462km range on the NEDC cycle (393km WLTP). We’ve seen better in South Africa before, but Nevo’s success will all depend on whether it can get local pricing right.
Next is the Nevo Q06, also confirmed for South African release in 2027, though the window is still undetermined. When it does arrive, this crossover SUV won’t be offered as a purely electric model. Instead, Nevo hinted that we’ll get the REEV (range-extended electric vehicle) model, with 100km of electric range for a total of 1,000km.

Then there’s the “facelifted” Deepal S07, to round out the offerings. South Africans can already pick up the older electric coupe-SUV S07 locally. More interesting is the new PHEV Deepal S07, though the exact specs are still unknown. We’ll find out more closer to both cars’ release, which is set to take place in Q3 2027.
Pricing is still under wraps, though we can learn a thing or two from the Chinese pricing. The Nevo Q05 can be had for as little as 90,000 yuan, converting roughly to R221,000 before taxes. The Nevo Q06 sits closer to R344,000 (140,000 yuan) as its starting price. The Deepal S07 REEV starts at R383,000 (156,000 yuan).
