Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event next week will introduce the world to the Galaxy Fold 8 Ultra (plus the standard Fold 8, and maybe a Flip). But you don’t have to wait until then to get most of the details. Samsung’s newest foldables have all emerged from the woodwork, via a range of reliable sources.
The early debut isn’t anything unusual for Samsung. Either the company has the worst opsec in tech, or the leaks are permitted internally for hype reasons. Whatever the truth actually is, here’s what you need to know about the South Korean company’s new foldables. Besides local pricing, of course.
Fold 8 Ultra outed

The Fold 8 Ultra will, according to Android Headlines, Winfuture, and/or @evleaks (who was busy, as usual), be packed to the eyeballs with Samsung’s latest tech. The inner display is an 8in foldable AMOLED. It’ll have Samsung’s new Flex Titanium screen tech. The screen’s resolution is said to be 2,504 x 2,256, a fair jump on the Fold 7’s panel. The 6.5in outer screen will be the same as last year’s model, it seems.
Internally, Samsung is using a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy — the company’s custom-tuned chipset. That’s more of an incremental update, since Samsung does this every year for its top-end devices. 12GB of RAM joins the 256GB and 512GB models, while the 1TB version nabs 16GB of system memory. Given current pricing trends, we really don’t want to see what these things cost.
Camera tech involves a 200MP main sensor (f/1.7), a 10MP 3x telephoto (f/2.4), and a 50MP ultrawide (f/1.9). The setup includes a 10MP front-facing camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and 45W wired charging. Oh, and it’ll lose about a millimetre of thickness, coming in at 4.1mm.
Go Wide, Samsung
The standard Fold 8, unlike the Fold 8 Ultra, is a bit less capable, according to reports. The 7.6in 2,448 x 1,848 AMOLED inner display is fronted by a 5.5in 1,972 x 1,248 cover panel. The processor will remain the same, but camera performance won’t be nearly as good as the Ultra. A 50MP f/1.8 main and a 50MP f/1.9 ultrawide are expected at Samsung’s Unpacked announcement.
The same storage/RAM options are planned, plus a 4,800mAh battery and 45W charging. As with the Galaxy Fold 8 Ultra, an IP48 rating should turn up too. Colour options and overseas pricing are known, but we’ll wait for something locally official before we begin exploring those details.
