If your only excuse for not paying off those speeding fines was the long lines and paperwork, that’s now out of the window. The City of Cape Town, in partnership with Pay@, has launched a new online portal — PayThat.co.za — which will help Capetonians pay off fines and ‘by-law violation warrants’ more practically.
Cape Town is tired of asking
“We’re proud to support the City of Cape Town in delivering a digital payment experience that meets the expectations of today’s users. PayThat.co.za is designed to be intuitive, secure, and scalable,” said Andrew Hardie, CEO of Pay@. “For the Pay@ team, this dedicated online portal needed to marry convenience, reliability, and efficiency to ensure Traffic offenders can easily pay their fines and thereby avoid penalties.”
Users can visit the website to find out whether they have any unpaid fines by inputting their notice or ID number into the system. Pay@ confirmed that PayThat doesn’t charge any additional fees, and only charges you for the amount shown “through a wide network of trusted payment partners.”
Users have the ability to use bank cards or EFT instant payments to settle their debt. If they’re banking with Capitec, FNB, RMB, Tyme, Absa, Nedbank, or use Money Market App, that’s an option, too. Finally, several mobile wallets, including Masterpass, Zapper, Snapscan, Scan To Pay, MTN MoMo, and VodaPay are also supported, leaving no more room for excuses.
