The iPod is a beloved piece of tech, although it’s one that has been made redundant by all the other tech out there — specifically the smartphone and the rise of streaming. Nobody needs a dedicated music player any more — even if that hasn’t stopped folks from making them.
Apple’s iconic music player is no more, but you can go back and revisit the past thanks to a browser-based version of the music hardware. Although it’s not made by Apple, it does, of course, support Apple Music. And it’s a fan of Spotify.
Spotify the iPod difference
The creation of developer Tanner Villarete, the browser-based player integrates with two major streaming services. Besides the fact that it’s digital, it works just the same as a 6th-generation Apple iPod. The click-wheel responds just like you’d expect the real thing to, meaning that while you can access it on your desktop, you should be using your phone for maximum nostalgia.
The digital player has been in development for some time, according to its GitHub page, and new features are being added all the time. At present, you can navigate as you would an obsolete music player, and there’s also a game based on Breakout in there for you to fiddle with, if you ever get tired of revisiting your old Black-Eyed Peas playlists.
