Apple has confirmed an in-person event taking place a little later this month. The company’s ‘Pro and Tell’ showcase will take place in Los Angeles on 28 October, according to the company’s invitations. Less clear is whether the rest of the world will be invited via live stream.
If there is a simultaneous broadcast, it’ll happen at 19h00 South African Standard Time (SAST) on 28 October. That’s when the event is scheduled to kick off. As usual, Apple is being coy about details. The tagline is pretty clear — there’s a MacBook Pro refresh coming.
Go Pro
This wouldn’t be the first time Apple announced new Pro models this year, but this event promises to be something special. Rumours have been circulating about a new OLED model. It looks like 28 October will be the day they’re finally put to rest.
Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman has been expecting this, though he got the date ever so slightly wrong. Odds are, there’s very little else he’s missed. A new touchscreen OLED display for both 14in and 16 models is expected, along with a tweaked macOS designed around the interface. Why you’d want to put your fingerprints all over a MacBook Pro display is a question only you can answer. Apple obviously thinks it’s got some utility.
Other model refreshes are supposed to be in store. A minor upgrade to 14in MacBook Pro models and the iMac could see them getting M6 processors. There’s also a chance of an OLED display coming to the iPad Mini at next week’s event. Other hardware upgrades and a price increase will be announced at the same time.
The main question we have is whether we’ll see this all live, or if the folks who don’t merit an in-person invite will have to peruse press releases and social media updates. Either way, we’ll have the details for you as soon as possible.
