The rumoured OLED MacBook gets an internal refresh
We’ve all heard the legends of a MacBook boasting a touchscreen OLED display. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has told the story around the campfire (his Power On newsletter) so many times, it might have slipped into actual myth. But now it seems that Apple is finally nearing release, with the latest rumours claiming a November debut.
When it finally hits shelves, the MacBook Pro is rumoured to use the Fruit Company’s existing M5 and M5 Pro chips, all inside a thinner design. It’ll be “significantly lighter,” too, according to Gurman, thanks to Apple shuffling around the internals. An exact weight is still unconfirmed, but it’ll weigh less than 1.54kg.
That’s about what the latest 13in MacBook Pro weighs — an already comfortable weight. Still, we’re not complaining. The MacBook Pro is in dire need of a refresh, even a minor one. The series hasn’t gotten even a minor update since 2022, and the prospect of a thinner, touchscreen option will excite on-the-go users.
YouTube Shorts now prioritises original slop

YouTube doesn’t want you to stop consuming the Shorts slop it’s constantly suggesting. Instead, it wants you to see original Shorts slop, without as much emphasis placed on recycled content, i.e, ‘clips’. The YouTube meta has rewarded those who simply trim down a long-form video (that isn’t theirs) and slap it on Shorts and call it a day.
No longer. In a blog post shared this weekend, YouTube confirmed it would make sweeping changes to its recommendation algorithm, for the benefit of viewers, not uploaders. “To improve the Shorts experience for everyone, we’re updating our recommendation systems to further prioritize original content and reduce the reach of content re-uploaded from other creators without adding anything of your own,” wrote the YouTube team.
The result, in theory, is that viewers will see more original content when browsing Shorts, and not repeat videos that consistently garner millions of views. If you are a re-uploader, YouTube suggest adding your own spin on the content in order to serve it to viewers. Something like a ‘unique’ edit or fresh commentary might do the trick. Or, better yet, go out and create something unique to continue successfully suckling at the YouTube teat.
AGV launches four limited-run Street Fighter 6-themed motorcycle helmets
If you’re picturing an AGV KS 1 helmet that’ll help you pull off a perfect shoryuken during a bar fight, think again. AGV and Capcom have indeed teamed up to launch four limited edition motorcycle helmets. However, the brain buckets based on Street Fighter 6′s Ken, Juri, Cammy, and Akuma are all about the visuals.
There’s plenty to like about the affordable KS 1, but conferring the ability to prod buttocks in a street brawl isn’t one of them. Nor, it seems, is acquiring one easily. AGV announced the range at the 2026 MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix, where it was priced at around R5,000. But, as we said, it’s limited – both in number and in regional availability. The Japanese company will only see these, officially, in Japan.
But if you happen to be there in December, when these ship, you’ll have a choice of four sizes when ordering yours, plus the various livery options. The darkened visors, though shown on the product imagery, are also a paid extra.
Honor shadowdrops the dual-screen X5d s

If you’ve seen one of Xiaomi’s dual-screen flagship devices and were disappointed to learn it’s a little tricky to get one here, maybe the new X5d s from Honor can fix that. It is by no means a flagship, sporting a Unisoc T610 octa-core SoC (System on a Chip) with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, according to the official product page.
The 6.78-inch LCD display with a 720 × 1,576 resolution doesn’t scream ‘premium’ either… although a refresh rate of 90Hz is… refreshing at this price. But hey, it’s got a second 2in (240 x 296px) display on the back, next to the single 50MP camera sensor. Yes, it looks like there are two sensors. But only one is mentioned in the spec sheet. We chalk that up to being “what consumers want”. Other notable specs include the 6,000mAh battery and the fact that it’s running Android 16 Go.
The official page was listed on Honor SA’s site late last month, but there’s been no communication from the company regarding local pricing or availability. We did manage to find this listing on Cellucity’s site mentioning a R2,500 price, but that one doesn’t indicate when stock will be available. If you’re frothing for a budget dual-screen smartphone, you might as well join the waitlist.
