The MacBook Pro M4’s body is still cooling in the wake of the fruit company unveiling a newer, faster M5 model, and already rumours are flying of the next big thing: the M6 MacBook Pro. Those are courtesy of industry insider Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, whose intel is rarely wrong when it comes to Apple’s products.
Return of the MacBook Pro
And if the rumours are true, Apple is readying its next-gen MacBook Pro to feature an OLED touchscreen display, in addition to the M5’s natural successor. Seeing that Ming-Chi Kuo, another Apple insider, suggested something similar to Apple’s next big Pro laptop only a few weeks back, it only solidifies Gurman’s own claims.
On top of the big changes, the devices — code-named K114 and K116 — will pack “thinner and lighter frames”. Underneath it all, the device reportedly features “a reinforced hinge and screen hardware,” though Gurman stresses that Apple hasn’t ditched the keyboard and trackpad for those who’d rather not lay their grubby paws on their laptop display — just as Steve Jobs intended.

In typical Apple fashion, it’s withholding all the biggest upgrades from the lineup to give it something to do the following year. Part of the MacBook Pro’s dripfeed schedule will see Apple retire the notch housing the laptop’s camera, instead favouring a punch-hole design that’ll see the OLED display wrap around it entirely.
As for when you might expect to see the M6 MacBook Pro hit shelves, Gurman predicts a late 2026 or early 2027 release, according to his sources. Don’t forget that Apple still has M5 Pro and M5 Max chipsets to shill — likely turning up in early 2026 — before the fruit company feels ready to move on to the next big thing.
