Say what you like about Huawei, the Chinese tech-maker has no idea how to stop going in the face of…. well, just look at everything. A new handset has hit South African shores in the shape of Huawei’s P Smart S. That would be a mid-range handset that has landed here at R6,000. So what do you get for your six grand? Well…

Expect a triple camera at the back, with a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP secondary and a 2MP tertiary lens taking up resident there. Huawei’s got a 16MP front-facer too, in case you need to take a picture of yourself. There’s a 4,000mAh battery in the back, for all-day performance (at least). Bluetooth 5.0, a headphone jack and a fingerprint sensor round out the tech features. It does, of course, run EMUI 10, which is based on Android 10. It isn’t Android 10, however — Huawei’s issues in that line haven’t gone away.
Huawei’s P Smart S is on sale now from Huawei’s online store, as well as MTN and Telkom. It’ll run you R6k and, if you order from Huawei’s store, you’ll also get a set of Huawei’s Freelace earbuds thrown in.
