It’s official folks – the LG G4 will be revealed on 28 April. And it’s going to be dressed in leather. We previously received a leather-themed invite from LG asking us to ave the date on 28 April, for a ‘G’ related device. This newer invite not only mentions the G4 by name, but it also give us the clearest look yet at the upcoming handset. What appears to be genuine stitched leather surrounds the now-familiar rear buttons on the G3, with a camera lens surrounded by a laser autofocus and dual LED flash sitting above them. An fast f1.8…

Sacre bleu! Est-ce le Sony Xperia Z4? New photos, posted by French blog NowhereElse, seem to show all of the new changes that Sony has made to its latest handset. The new phone is supposedly going to be released as two different versions, both with the same size screen but different resolutions. One will house a 2,560 x 1,440 2K screen whilst the other will contain a slightly less impressive 1,920 x 1,080 full HD screen. The Japanese company seems to have followed Samsung’s lead by getting rid of the MicroSD slot and implementing a non-removable 3,400mAh battery. The lack…

LG might have accidentally revealed the existence of an 8K iMac. In a press release hyping up 8K and discussing its own 98in 8K TV, the South Korean tech giant mentioned that “Apple has also announced that they will release the iMac 8K with a super-high resolution display this year”. LG manufactures the 5K display used in Apple’s existing 5K Retina Display iMac, so naturally the South Korean tech giant is in a better position than most when it comes to insider knowledge of Apple’s upcoming iMac range. Whether or not this is a mistake on LG’s part, or simply…

Bendgate is back! Or, at least, that’s what SquareTrade aimed to reignite, posting a video on Friday that showed the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge put to a three-point pressure test against the HTC One M9 and iPhone 6 Plus. In this test (below), the Galaxy S6 Edge bent at exactly the same point as the iPhone 6 Plus – 50 kilos of force – while the HTC One M9’s hefty metal frame gave way at about 55kg of force (the standard Galaxy S6 wasn’t tested). Yes, thin slabs of metal and glass bend under a lot of pressure. Surprised? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y7tPczbOec…

With LG’s next flagship (almost certainly called the G4) set to be revealed late this month, there’s been some speculation that the company will shift away from the 5.5in IPS LCD seen in last year’s sensational G3. But that’s officially not the case. LG Display, the division of the company that quite obviously makes the screens, has announced the first details of the display panel that “will be used in LG Electronics’ forthcoming flagship smartphone.” On the surface, it all sounds quite familiar: a 5.5in QHD screen – an LCD with IPS tech – running at 1440×2560 (538ppi). But it’s…

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is a lovely thing, and its curved S6 Edge brother is even lovelier. And that’s why the latest rumour surrounding the Galaxy S7 (yes, really), has made us rather happy. South Korean site ETNews has reported that the Samsung Display Division has requested 8 million flexible panels a month, in preparation for its 2016 Galaxy S7 flagship. If true, it could spell the end of the Edge, and usher in an era of a single, curved Samsung flagship, where a bendy screen is the norm, as opposed to a quirky design luxury. The same screens are…

We’re all for tracking steps and seeing how many calories we’ve burned walking from the pub to the nearest dodgy roadside burger, but it would be nice to wear something that didn’t look so… fitness bandy. The new Tory Burch range for Fitbit addresses this problem by transforming the company’s Flex fitness trackers into rather attractive pieces of jewellery, starting off with the Fret Double-Wrap Bracelet. It encases the Flex fitness tracker (sold separately) in a metal case, which is itself threaded on a leather strap, with a variety of colour options available. If you fancy keeping your wrist free…

The new MacBook is absolutely, positively, undeniably stunning. But those looks, it seems, come with a price. We were bowled over by its incredibly thin, premium metal body, but reservations over its single USB-C port bring up a legitimate connectivity concern. While you can solve that niggle with adaptors, there is another potential issue which no amount of money can solve – power. MacRumors has spotted a Geekbench benchmark, allegedly carried out by a new MacBook, and its results are on par with the 2011 MacBook Air. The 1.1GHz entry-level MacBook, powered by an Intel Core M-5Y31 processor, produced a…

Started to forget about the long-speculated supersized iPad Pro? Well here’s a fresh leak to flare up those rumour flames again. Images of an iPad Pro mockup model have cropped up on Chinese site Weibo, and it has what appears to be either a USB-C port or a second Lightning port, on its side. MacRumours believes that the mockup is likely to be from a case manufacturer who has created a dummy model of the tablet to get an early start ahead of its release, but we’re still filing this very much in the Pinch of Salt folder. If the…
