Yesterday, Valve announced that they had a new location and dates for Dota 2’s The International 10. The event will now take place in Bucharest, Romania, in October this year. This is after Sweden, its original location, would not accept esports into its sports federation. Sweden’s decision meant that the country would not classify The International 10 as an elite sporting event and thus players, coaches, analysts and desk hosts would be denied entry into the country due to COVID-19 restrictions. Audacity, an open-source audio editing tool, was recently bought by Muse Group. It also owns Ultimate Guitar, a community-driven forum for sharing guitar tabs of popular songs and MuseScore, an open-source app for creating sheet music. The acquisition itself was not the issue. CD Projekt Red has given their AR RPG game, The Witcher: Monster Slayer, a release date in an announcement last last week. From 21 July, the game will be free on both iOS and Android. If you’re extra eager (and on Android) you can pre-register now on Google’s Play Store to get instant access to the game when it goes live and a starting sword that will give you extra XP on each kill. In one of the most brazen displays of irony we’ve seen this year, a hacker or group of hackers took it upon themselves to disrupt the Sundays of Apex Legend players everywhere with the hope that Titanfall gets some love too. In their promotional strategy for their much-anticipated sequel, Dying Light 2: Stay Human, Techland has opted to go a similar route that Cyberpunk 2077 went with their episodic show Dying 2 Know. The show features gameplay development, behind-the-scenes sneak peaks, interviews with some of the developers and sometimes, a new trailer.
