If you were wondering if the Huawei Pura 90 would follow the timeline of its predecessors, you’d be correct. Last year, the Pura 80 lineup launched in the early part of July. This year, the Pura 90 lineup will launch… in the early part of July. Specifically, on 14 July at a global event in Kuala Lumpur.
The Chinese brand teased the lineup, along with at least one of the models appearing, via a post on X. The tagline of ‘Now is your moment’ doesn’t tell us much. The rest of the post is also light on detail. There’s just a time and place for folks looking to learn more.

It’s not like we’ve got zero clue what’s due to turn up, of course. There’s some indication that we won’t get quite the same model lineup as last year, with rumours suggesting that there’s a Pura 90s Pro Max waiting in the wings for the international market. If so, we’ll likely see it here. The Pura 80, 80 Pro, and 80 Ultra all launched locally last year.
It’s not like the stock Pura 90 has any surprises. Nor do the Pro or Pro Max models, so seeing a 90S Pro Max might be the only way we’ll see something fresh. That’s the trouble with Huawei launching everything in China first (in April this year, in this case). There’s rarely anything properly exciting happening when the devices make their way closer to home.
As is usual with the Pura series, expect high-end camera performance from the two pricier models, at least. Assuming the Chinese configuration holds, the 90 Pro will have a 50/50/12.5MP rear array, while the Pro Max will go with a 50/200/12.5MP setup. The Pura 90s Pro Max will take things just a little further, with 20x zoom being a feature of the handset. Whether that’s somehow an optical function or if it’s software-assisted is something we’ll find out from 14 July this year. After that? Pricing and local availability, hopefully.
