Still eagerly awaiting a full release for Hades II? Well, tough. Supergiant Games, the team behind the arguable classic that is Hades is still tucked away in a lab somewhere, cooking up Hades II. Unless you own a PC of course. The highly-anticipated sequel has been available on Steam for quite some time now in early access, and it just got its second major update.
One small leap for console players, one giant leap for Hades II
That would be The Warsong Update, delivering more than 2,000 new voice lines and events, a God to charm some boons out of, and a new final boss before hitting Mount Olympus at the end of the second ‘phase’. It’s still a mystery who that final encounter is, but we know that Ares, ‘the infamous God of War’ has returned from the first game. “Gain his varied and vicious Boons to see if you can satisfy his thirst for blood,” Supergiant said.
And plenty more changes designed to polish the game further. There’s a new Animal Familiar to acquaint yourself with, changes to in-game crossroads, and the so-called Altar of Ashes. Oh, and the update also introduces “a slew of new music tracks, many new and improved Boons, streamlined resource gathering, and more!” You can check out the complete patch notes on Steam here.

Unfortunately, that’s where the news stops. Supergiant mentioned that work on the next major update was already underway, where it’ll focus on the story beats, hidden aspects, and final boss encounters that are so integral to the Hades experience. It didn’t, however, divulge any news on a potential release date for Hades II that’ll see this game finally hit consoles.
We know the game is still on track to release sometime in 2025 judging by the game’s early access disclaimer: “We expect Early Access development of Hades II to continue during 2025. We don’t have a specific end date for our Early Access at this time,” assuring the community that an early access tactic was the best way forward with a roguelike series like Hades. Still, it’s a step in the right direction.
