Netflix planning ‘Tudum’ fan event featuring trailers, interviews and announcements

Tudum

Apple does it, Samsung does it, even all the game companies are doing it — now Netflix, the streaming giant, is planning its own ‘fan event’ to showcase what it’s been working on. The event, aptly named Tudum (if you don’t instantly hear the correlation, get out) will feature trailers, interviews with showrunners and originals announcements.

It’s planned for 25 September 2021 and will feature first looks at incoming original content on the platform, including movies and series. It’ll run for three hours, so grab some popcorn and settle in. This is gonna be a long Netflix and chill sesh.

Tudum, here’s Net Flieks and more

Gear up for “… over 70 shows and movies on Netflix, including Stranger Things, Bridgerton, The Witcher, Cowboy Bebop, Red Notice, The Old Guard, and The Umbrella Academy, according to The Verge.

An event like this will increase visibility for the streaming service (as if it needs it) and its content — especially considering events like these have become more prominent in modern pop culture industries. This includes events like DC’s FanDome, Disney Plus’ National Streaming Day and even WitcherCon. In the tech industry, we’ve become accustomed to fan-aimed events detailing new products and software. It makes sense for the entertainment industry to follow suit.

Now that Netflix is doing its own convention-type thing, we may also see the streaming platform announce some stuff outside of its usual realm of TV and cinema soon. Who knows, we might even see Showmax follow suit with a hyper-local lineup of what’s to come, at some point.
