If you’re currently running around your respective town and/or city in a 2007 Toyota Yaris, then you might want to pay attention to this little news piece. The car manufacturer has issued a recall on all 2007 Toyota Yaris’ models due to a fault with the car’s airbags. SMSs were sent out to all the owners of the affected vehicles making them aware of the situation and probably making more than a few people rather paranoid. Scams are so easy to pull these days that many people no doubt wrote the warning off.
Of course, we at Stuff Magazine like to look a little deeper. We contacted Toyota South Africa to ask whether or not the recall was real and it turns out it to be 100% true! If you’re currently jetting about the place in one of these basic yet seemingly unkillable vehicles, you probably want to make your way down to your nearest Toyota dealership and have the airbags replaced. Don’t worry, it won’t cost you cent!
Toyota’s out the bag
Late last week Toyota sent out messages in the form of an SMS to everyone that may be impacted by the recall. “This message is brought to you by the Department of Transport and the RTMC. Your 2007 YARIS vehicle has been identified as being part of a safety recall campaign. Please contact your nearest Toyota Dealer who will provide you with an appointment to visit their service centre to replace the Airbag at no cost to you,” reads the message.
If you want to find out a little more about the recall and how to best go about the process, you can head over here there’s even a place to enter your VIN number on the site to determine whether or not you’re affected but if you own a Yaris that’s older than 14 years then you might just want to have it checked up to be safe. Maybe it’s time to upgrade to that new Hilux Toyota recently priced…
