Are you on an Axxess DSL line? You’re due for a free upgrade

Axxess

It’s been a pretty good week for everyone’s internet connections! Well, not everyone but after Openserve announced that it was upgrading everyone’s line speeds for free, Mweb offered a new collection of decently priced deals. The number of happy folks is about to increase even further as Axxess DSL customers are about to upgrade free of charge. Hooray for faster internet!

This all links back to the original story of Openserve upgrade line speeds across the board but whether or not individual ISPs would capitalise on improvements and charge customers more was still up in the air. Fortunately for Axxess customers, the company has decided it won’t be greedy by charging users for faster speeds. Nope, users on DSL lines will just be upgraded for free with the rollout taking place throughout March, which is certainly a nice way to kick off your week!

So what kinds of speeds are we talking about here? According to MyBroadband users on the 4Mbps line will be upgraded to 10Mbps, 8Mbps will jump to 20Mbps, and 10Mbps (as well as 20Mbps) will jump to 40Mbps. However, if you’re already on a 40Mbps line, then you won’t have your speed upgraded but there’s a chance your fees may be cut in the future. How accurate that is, remains to be seen.

Oh, and if you’re one of those poor chaps stuck on a 1Mbps or 2Mbps line then you’ll be upgraded to 5Mbps for 6 months. Come September, you’ll need to pay R285 for the new line but at least you can test it out and cancel the connection if you deem in unnecessary.
