Wait, some of you were still on holiday? MTN has launched a new set of combined hardware/data deals for subscribers old and new, as well as people who use pre-paid rather than contracts.

Most deals include a bit of hardware, plus data, and are aimed at kids heading back to school — though they’re likely going to be having classes in your lounge once more. Some data might be useful in that case.

MTN your wallet

Prepaid customers have several options available to them. R600 (once-off) will net them a Sharelink H220M Mi-Fi LTE router, along with a once-off 13GB Anytime data bundle, a 5GB YouTube Entertainment data bundle, a once-off 20GB MTN Home bundle, and then 1GB of data monthly for twelve months. A Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8” 2019 and a free 20GB MTN Home Bundle for R2,000 is the other hardware option for prepaid.

For folks who already have one of the company’s Pay As You Go routers, there are data SIM options as well: R100 for 15GB data, (5GB Anytime, 5GB Night Express valid for 30 days, plus a once-off 5GB MTN Home Bundle), R150 snags 30GB data (10GB Anytime, 10GB Night Express, 10GB MTN Home Bundle); while R200 secures 50GB data (15GB Anytime, 15GB Night Express, 20GB Home Bundle).

Acting like a contractor

Contract customers obviously have a whole other set of options. There are both hardware and SIM-only deals, so we’re going to start with the tech-filled stuff first: R290/pm (over 36 months) nets users an HP Intel Celeron N4020, a Sharelink H220M Mi-Fi router and 10GB data (4GB Anytime, 4GB Night Express, 2GB Home Bundle). If you’re keener on a tablet, there’s also a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8” 2019 for R180pm (24 months) that arrives with 10GB data (4GB Anytime, 4GB Night Express, 2GB Home Bundle).

SIM-only options run from R100 for 10GB (4GB Anytime, 4GB Night Express 2GB Home) to R350 for 150GB (100GB Anytime, 30GB Night Express, 20GB Home Bundle). Those who sign up to or upgrade to a Mega Gigs or Mega Talk plan will get 1GB of Home Bundle data access (Google Classroom, Zoom, WebEx, Skype and Google Hangouts) for three months. That’s… not too horrible. Right?

And if you’re under 25, you can get a weekly 10GB MTN Pulse Student Bundle (by dialling *411#) from the company for R50 (per week, we’re assuming). That comes with 5GB Anytime and 5GB Night Express data, plus a 500MB Home Bundle.
