Not to be confused with the wonderful Microsoft Surface Laptop Go, Microsoft just launched the Surface Go 2 in South Africa for R9,000. The Surface range features a variety of products, not only laptops. This is the case with the Surface Go 2, which is actually a tablet that comes with the Surface keyboard accessory and transforms it into a laptop.
The Surface Go 2 features a lightweight design (well, because it’s a tablet), a 10.5in PixelSense display, dual Studio Mics, a 5MP front-facing camera and some speedy Intel processors (depending on the config you go for).
Deeper than the Surface
“We’re excited to expand our Surface family with the addition of Surface Go 2 – our smallest and lightest two-in-one laptop. Its compact design and the versatility of a touchscreen and keyboard will appeal to businesses, schools, students and families,” says Vithesh Reddy, marketing director at Microsoft South Africa.
These little entry-level 2-in-1 tablets come in a variety of configurations. RAM, for example, can go from 4GB up to 8GB and you can opt for 64GB MMC storage or upgrade properly to 128SSD storage.
Aside from that, the Go 2 is a lot like a smaller Microsoft Surface Pro 7. Here you also get the recognisable Surface kickstand at the back that moves from 0 degrees (flat, in tablet mode) to 135 degrees to keep all your tech right-up. Here you attach the fabric-clad Surface keyboard accessory and you’re set.
Coming in at this price will give the Surface range the opportunity to sit on many South Africas’ laps. It’s a decent entry-level price point for people who can’t afford top-tier laptops and business notebooks. The Surface Go 2 is available from today at Incredible Connection stores and Vodacom.
