One thing we’re worried about when it comes to next-gen consoles, is whether we’ll need to buy our favourite games twice (one for PS4 and one for PS5). But a new leak for Ubisoft’s Far Cry 6 title may clear up some doubts. All while also suggesting a release date for the anticipated game of 18 February 2021.
An unexpected listing on the PSN (PlayStation Network) Store in Hong Kong has revealed more details about Far Cry 6 and what we can expect. One of the major rumours confirmed by this listing, though, is that we’ll see Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito in the game. Other than that, the listing seems very convoluted, with spelling errors and strange paragraph breaks.
A Far Cry from the truth, or?
It’s almost as if this is a badly duplicated fake page, but the listing is still live on the HK PSN Store. Upon further inspection, we’re sure the punctuation and spelling errors are due to Google translating the page from Mandarin to English. We’re still not sure whether the place where Far Cry 6 takes place is called Yarra or Yala though.
The interesting announcement, however, is that players who buy the title for PS4 will get a free copy of the game for Sony’s next-generation console, the PS5. This puts to rest at least some worries that players will need to purchase duplicates of certain games. Obviously we don’t know if all developers will give players this option, but it’s nice to know that at least Ubisoft would like to help a player out.
Also, Ubisoft’s annual keynote event is happening on Sunday at 9pm CAT if you’re keen to see more of Far Cry 6 — we’ll almost certainly see more trailer or maybe gameplay at this point. So we’ll have a better idea of what to expect. Also: you can score a free copy of Watch Dogs 2.
