You'll often catch me dreaming of a Wind Waker remaster. Or sleeping. One of the two.

Enter the Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro People love to believe their lives were better way back when. It’s a phenomenon that Big Tech has preyed on for the better part of twenty years. Hell, Samsung’s whole side-schtick for the time being is to sell off those phones that flip and fold like phones from the 90s. Apparently, that’s not enough. Samsung is dipping its toes even further into the nostalgia pool with the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro.  It’s a limited-edition version of the current Flip 5, toting a rather endearing shell that’s paying homage to the iconic Samsung SGH-E700…

Boston Dynamic’s got a talking dog and… it’s British?  https://youtu.be/djzOBZUFzTw If you’ve been on the internet before, you’ve probably heard about Spot – the walking, jumping and now talking robot dog built by Boston Dynamics. That last was made to happen with the help of ChatGPT, the artificially intelligent LLM, which was installed into Spot’s ‘brain’ back in April. We’re not wholly convinced that we’re not seeing the beginning of the end here, but you’ve got to admit – it’s cool.   Boston Dynamics shared a video of Spot in its new get-up; a top hat, moustache and a pair of…

Fun fact: Mario’s full name is… Mario Mario. Now that we’ve upset your day, here’s our review of Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo’s last big hurrah for the end-of-the-world-stopping plumber on the six-year-old Switch before it moves onto bigger and better things.  Nintendo has proven that the Switch is the perfect console to keep the Mario series alive. It pulled off something truly brilliant with 2017’s Super Mario Odyssey, a game that set the bar so high, Nintendo spent six years at the drawing board cooking up Wonder. Just as well the company likes to take its time, or…

X one step closer to becoming an ‘everything app’ X, that app that’s going through more changes than a teenage boy, is rolling out audio and video calls. For some reason. It’s probably got something to do with Elon Musk’s grand vision of turning X into an ‘everything app’. We think. Musk directly confirmed the feature’s existence as an “early version” through a post in the early hours of the morning but failed to elaborate.   However, we’re still waiting on an official announcement from the platform itself. Right now, the feature is still shrouded in mystery. Thanks to a Community…

Lenovo bendy phones, again? Lenovo’s Tech World ‘23 is in full swing, and it’s brought all the wacky stuff you’d expect to see from the company’s showcase. Nvidia’s Jensen Huang showed up alongside 2023’s favourite keyword – but that’s not what caught our eye. That honour fell to Motorola’s bendy phone concept, which popped its head out for a couple of minutes before being returned to the vaults until Lenovo Tech World ‘29 or something.  Motorola’s bendy phone concept (that’s the technical term) first showed up at the 2016 event, crunching itself into a watch-style bracelet before it was shuttered.…

You have every right to be frightened when opening something containing the words ‘petrol’ or ‘diesel’ on Stuff. That’s not our fault, though. The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has increased the country’s fuel prices since June, with no sign of a reprieve in sight. Until now, that is, according to the latest data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF), which predicts the country’s fuel prices could be about to topple for the first time in months. Good (petrol) news everyone! If the country plays its cards right, we could see a R2/l drop in petrol and a 90c/l drop…

Instagram’s got a verified-only feed now, we guess Remember when Instagram used to only be for close friends, just sharing updates to their lives? Vaguely. Meta is looking to rid itself of its troubled (and less profitable) past with the launch of a new ‘feature’ for Instagram – a verified-only homepage feed. Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, announced the change in his broadcast channel on Monday. “We’re exploring this as a new control for people and a way for businesses and creators to get discovered,” he wrote.  If you’re scratching your head wondering what the hell Verified accounts are, we’ll…

We knew WhatsApp’s streak of brilliant updates couldn’t last. There had to be something that didn’t grab our attention eventually, and it looks like the day has finally come. According to WABetaInfo, Meta is cooking up a new update for WhatsApp Business that’ll see a ‘quick action bar’ join the app’s ranks. See? Told you.   That won’t stop it from being useful, though. WABetaInfo first spotted the addition in the WhatsApp Business beta for Android 2.23.22.10 update which usually means that an official rollout isn’t that far away. We can’t be sure when that’ll be, but we’re placing our bets…

He is the Messiah Still waiting for Apple to deliver something new in the iMac department? You might not have to wait for much longer if Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has anything to say about it. And say about it he does, over in his weekly Power On newsletter, making some bold claims that suddenly has our hopes up for a surprise end-of-October iMac release.  When Gurman speaks, you listen. Even if the next-biggest Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, reckons that the same refreshed model is only landing in 2024.   The last time Apple got around to updating the iMac was back…

Enter MicroLED Anyone who’s into tech will know that OLED is the go-to for the time being. It’s everywhere — TVs, monitors, and game consoles — if you’re willing to put up with larger-than-usual prices. It was only a matter of time before those bigger companies began looking for what’s next. In the case of your Samsung and Apple smartwatches, what’s next might just be MicroLED That’s what Samsung’s Korea division had to say, anyway (via SamMobile). Samsung said it was considering a larger push into MicroLED panels for smartwatches and signage displays over the coming years. When and where it’ll show…
