Fitbit revealed their updated lineup late last month, giving us a peek at what was due to be arriving in late November overseas as well as early next year. The Fitbit Charge, Charge HR, and Fitbit Surge are all expected to hit the market soon, with the Caller ID-toting Charge arriving first followed by the rest at an unspecified time next year. And, wonder of wonders, South Africa is going to be matching pace with the rest of the world, a trend that we really hope continues as we’re getting a bit too chummy with Customs lately. The Charge has…

ARENA Scientific is a name that we don’t hear a whole lot in the Southern Hemisphere (unless we’ve been looking in all the wrong places) but they’ve got something remarkable in a 10.1-inch Windows 8.1 tablet on the boil. That would be the Tab-X, an LTE-sporting, thick-as-a-smartphone tablet that features an Intel quad-core at its heart as well as some pretty nifty connectivity options. Not bad for a 10.1-inch tablet that is just 8.5mm at its thickest point (not counting a keyboard dock, of course). The Tab-X might weigh just 580 grams, which puts it within spitting distance of the…

We made a boo-boo. Or is that spelled booboo? In the November 2014 issue of Stuff Magazine, the incorrect pricing has appeared for the LaPierre Overvolt electric bicycle that appears on page 87 of the magazine. The pricing for this import bike has been listed as R6,800. In reality, where all the wallets live, the price for this bike in South African Rands is closer to R54,000. We were hoping to list both the overseas and local price for this particular piece of tech and a gremlin swooped in, mashed them together and that’s how the R7,000 electric bike pitched…

Another year, another edition of Activision’s massively popular shooter. That’s really how we tell that the gaming year is finally winding down to a manageable pace but it’s how a large number of gamers mark their calendars. A new Call of Duty means new maps, guns, gameplay and a whole lot of online trash talk once the campaign story has been flashbanged and shot in the face. That is, if players get to the campaign at all. A lot of players don’t, preferring to jump right into their KD ratios and levelling their characters without the benefit of have trying…

Stuff is all for cool cars, whether they’re looking good from the inside or are packing an attractive outer shell, and Merc have come up with a new concept vehicle that combines those two. The Vision G-Code is a concept SUV that features lines that we’re pretty sure we saw in 80s action films (not quite as ridiculous) but the in-car tech is innovative enough that even a Hollywood exec would have throw the ideas they’re using out as being “too silly”. Not that we’re complaining though. The Vision G-Code is packing unusual engine tech in that it uses an electric motor…

Bioware and Electronic Arts’ Dragon Age series kicked off with the fantastic Dragon Age: Origins, the less impressive Dragon Age II and its reused dungeons and we’re just a couple of weeks shy of the third and largest outing for the series. Expensive equipment passes through the Stuff offices quite often on its person-to-person review journey before returning from whence it came a slightly more battered and bruised piece of kit. It’s so commonplace that we just about take it for granted but every so often something pitches up that reminds us just how pricey the products we see really are. Read More: Vertu Ti Ferrari – Hands On The latest of these is Vertu’s Signature Touch smartphone, which puts the previous model we had from the company, the Ti Ferrari, in the shade when it comes to specifications. At somewhat less…

Grand Theft Auto V is due to make the jump to several new platforms, with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the open-world crime title landing on 18 November and the PC edition of the game (at long bloody last) hitting screens on 27 January next year. But is there really a point to re-purchasing a game that you’ve already played to bits? Developer Rockstar says yes, which is why they’ve just announced new features for the visually-enhanced GTA V. One of the most notable is the inclusion of a new first-person mode that will be available on…

A robot that is able to think and feel emotions is a near staple for science fiction and Chappie, the third sci-fi film for South African-born writer/director Neill Blomkamp is going to be giving the old trope a fresh coat of paint if the newly-released trailer is anything to go by. Chappie will star Hugh Jackman as an Aussie, with Sigourney Weaver, Sharlto Copely (as the robot Chappie itself… himself? Either way, Chappie’s going to be learning a few things) as well as Di Antwoord’s Watkin Tudor Jones and Anri du Toit (or Ninja and Yolandi Visser, if you prefer)…
