We’ve enjoyed ourselves more with Fujifilm’s instax mini 8 camera far more than we’d care to admit in public, though for some reason we’re perfectly comfortable mentioning that fact in a review. For those who missed out on the review of the instax mini 90 Neo Classic, the instax mini 8 is along the same lines as the bigger, retro, Polariod-looking hardware that we had our hands on recently. Read More: Fujifilm instax mini 90 Neo Classic review The main difference is that this instax mini 8 is a lot lower-tech that the Neo Classic, which eschewed most tech features…

The Nokia Lumia brand might be on the way out, to be replaced by Microsoft Luma if the rumour mill is on the money, but for now we’re still seeing smartphones that feature the older branding. One such device is the dual-SIM curiosity known as the Lumia 730, a decent mid-range phone that does credit to the fuller-featured smartphones in the product lineup. Read More: Nokia Lumia 930 Review Even with cut-down specs in the places that usually matter, like the display, processor and RAM departments, the Nokia Lumia 730 still manages to put in an impressive performance. When it’s…

Smartphones would be so much better without all of that extraneous space around the screen, right? If you identify with this statement, then LG has something for you coming around the bend. LG Display has announced that it has developed a 5.3in Full HD LCD panel for upcoming smartphones that only requires 0.7mm of bezel to the right and left of the display. That’s enough to be visible, but it’s just narrower than a credit card. More importantly, it’s much less than the average phone on the market today, to which LG credits its new Neo Edge module processing and…

It’s StuffCentral time again and, you guessed it, Toby has had to hand the controls over to Craig Wilson as host once again. Toby’s in India for the moment but you’ll all know more about that once he returns. This week Craig had Sam Beckbessinger in the studio to talk about all things tech. If you’ve listened to Craig before then you’ll know his very structured format – news, tech and apps. With a few distractions in between, of course. We can’t promise that there’s a creepy twist to this edition but Craig did mention in passing that he didn’t actually…

We’ve been following the development of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt very closely on the strength of the first two games to issue forth from developer CD Projekt. As we edge closer to the 24 February release date, there’s something more to whet our appetites for this open-world role-playing game starring Polish-conceived mutant and all-round badass Geralt of Rivia – the game’s opening cinematic sequence. Setting the tone for the game to come, players are treated to the sight of hero (depending on your point of view) Geralt tracking the moments of Yennefer of Vengerberg, his long-lost love, through…

Too soon? Samsung’s South Korean Twitter account has taken a dig at Apple’s decision to release a larger-screened iPhone by throwing late CEO Steve Jobs own words back at Cupertino. The image released on Twitter contains the words “No one is going to buy a big phone” and the line was said by Jobs at the launch of the iPhone 4. Historically Jobs was against making the iPhone larger and while Apple seems to have discarded that fact, it seems that Samsung hasn’t forgotten about what a very definite statement by the late CEO. https://twitter.com/SamsungMobilePH/status/509404624655503360 The question is: is Samsung’s choice…

We’re back again – more specifically, Toby’s back from his overseas events and back in the studio again. This week on StuffCentral he’s taking to BMW SA’s Jabulani Selumane, who is the managed to ConnectedDrive here in the country. What is ConnectedDrive, you ask? Good question and there are two ways to answer it. Either hit up this week’s show to learn more or you can dive into the latest issue of Stuff (which we’ve seen on-shelf in good newsagents and bookstores – ahead of the official shelf date earlier this week) for a look at the connected tech that…

We’re all very used to noise on the road. Whether it’s the grind of tyres on tarmac or the whoosh of that insane driver overtaking you at twice the speed limit, road travel comes with more than its share of aural distraction. But not for much longer: Meet audio company Harman’s HALOsonic Road Noise Cancelling (RNC) tech, which is being developed in conjunction with Lotus. What Harman’s noise cancelling tech does is use accelerometers fitted to a vehicle to measure vibration from the road, which is then picked up by the in-system controller. An algorithm is used to create a series…
