Jeremy Clarkson talks you through Amazon’s first delivery drone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXo_d6tNWuY We’re definitely in the future and it looks as though Amazon’s drone delivery system is coming with it. Or at least, a video narrated by Jeremy Clarkson featuring a drone with Amazon’s logo on it is headed our way. You’ll see the drone make a delivery, from start to finish, and get some background as to how the Amazon Prime Air equipment will do its job. It seems to be largely autonomous, which has to be a good thing. We’ve yet to meet the person who can navigate several drones…

Drones for photographers, drones for shrinks, drones for soldiers, and drones for anyone else who blinks… bad Dr. Seuss rhyme scheming aside, there seems to be a drone for everyone these days. So it makes sense that DJI has designed a drone specifically for the agricultural community – the MG-1. What’s special about the Agras MG-1 isn’t that it features an intelligent camera gimbal and rock-steady recording, the MG-1 is something else entirely: A crop-duster. The DJI kit has a ten-litre tank for pesticides and can be used to spray crops. The drone lasts about 12 minutes per charge and…

We’ve met the occasionally Nintendo super-fan but never somebody quite this dedicated to the Japanese gaming company’s mascot. According to watch blog A Blog to Watch, Swiss timepiece company Romain Jerome is going to be launching a special-edition Super Mario Bros. wristwatch, in association with Nintendo. The wristwatch will be launching before the end of this year, so that it’s in time for the 30th anniversary of the Italian plumber’s first appearance. That’s right, Mario turns 30 this year. The watch itself is fairly basic, as these things go. There are Swiss-made mechanical innards and the Mario Bros. iconography but…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXo_d6tNWuY In case you missed it on the Light Start page this morning (seriously, you should sign up for that one. Saves having to check the web in the AM), Jeremy Clarkson has taken to video in an Amazon advert for the Amazon Prime Air pipe dream service that the online shopping juggernaut is trying to get off the ground. Unsurprising, really, as Clarkson’s new TV show is also being made by Amazon. But there’s something about his voice-over, the extremely-likely scenario and the very satisfied bulldog that brings Amazon’s drone delivery ambitions into focus. Well, that and the actual footage…

Just when you thought they couldn’t make Pi’s any smaller…  Usually when we’re complaining about the size of pies it’s because King Pie have skimped on the filling again. But no, this Pi shrinking is a good thing because the Raspberry Pi Zero is a complete computer. The thing is that it’s a lot smaller and a lot cheaper. How does $5 (about R72) grab you? And that’s for the complete machine, a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, dual microUSB slots, space for a microSD and a microHDMI for picture. Its longest measurement is about 6.5cm. Pi Zero indeed. Hold on, maybe we better qualify this before we continue. Huawei are going to be showing off their new Mate 8 phablet from January 2016 at CES before launching it in China and then the rest of the world. So you’ll first see it in the silicon in January next year. Buying it… that might take a bit longer. But the newly-revealed specs are going to make it an attractive buy when it launches. The 6-inch phablet will land with a 1080p display – sadly no 4K is on the cards – and a Kirin 950 octa-core chip. Huawei are…

And then there were none. Far from just being an Agatha Christie novel (look it up, kids), it’s also the situation today as we give away our final BrydgeAir keyboard to one lucky winner. Except with less death and mystery. Seriously, look up the novel. While you’re doing that, we’re going to be doing the BrydgeAir Keyboard for iPad Air and iPad Air 2 competition draw. Wanna race? See, that was fast. But first… As is custom, we have a couple of legal things to get out of the way. This is how the whole thing goes down every month:…

What do you get for the geek that has everything? How about a tiny little computer that does, or at least wants to do, everything? That’s the idea with the Poco, which is being billed by its creators as a supercomputer. In the versatility sense rather than the incredibly overpowered one, we believe. It’s set to be powered by the Raspberry Pi motherboard so it’s a pretty flexible platform. And here’s why you might want one. It’s a bird… wait, a GoPro-like thing Due to international copyright law (and trademark and a whole bunch of others), we can’t call the…
