In case you didn’t know it, the 22nd of April is Earth Day, the day we celebrate Mother Nature and apologise for all the nasty things we’ve done to her. Apple is celebrating in its own way, throwing the spotlight on nature-focused content on several of its platforms for the day.
Green Apple
Over on Apple Music, you’ll see “earth-inspired” music take centre stage in the form of a “Sounds of Nature” and “Mixtape for Mother Earth” playlist, as well as a “special editorial space” called “Restore Our Earth Through Music”, which is advertised as a soundscape that takes you through the worlds seven continents.
You’ll also have your attention drawn to the “Earth Won’t Wait” podcast, which aims to educate and provide insight to listeners on environmental issues, hopefully inspiring “active participation in the fight against climate change” in listeners. Probably not the most uplifting thing to listen to, but certainly important.
Eco-friendly and educational content will also be put front and centre on Apple TV and Apple Books, in the form of Earth Day collections. TV+ subscribers get access to “The Year Earth Changed”, a documentary narrated by none other than Sir David Attenborough. They can also check out the newest seasons of “Tiny World” and “Earth At Night In Colour”.
The App Store is looking very green as well, putting in its front window a selection of apps centred around environmental consciousness. These apps can, “help make sustainable shopping, food waste reduction, and getting children involved in the effort easier than ever before.”
