Power banks might not see as much glory as they did at the height of load shedding, but they can still be useful products for those times you forgot to charge something. That might not be your smartphone, with manufacturers these days stuffing increasingly larger batteries into them, but laptops have yet to see the same level of attention.
That’s what makes the Edge from Krafted stand out. It’s a power bank made specifically for your laptop. It also has the added bonus of user-replaceable parts. That’s almost always a good thing.
Can’t make a Tomlette without breaking a few Greggs

At 12.88mm at its thickest, it’s also much daintier than other power banks. That’s because it’s been designed to live under your laptop and out of the way. That also means slipping it into your laptop bag won’t produce a bulge. You won’t need to keep track of cables either. The included cable has its own little stowage area.
Four 5,000mAh cells make up this 20,000mAh modular battery. When they eventually wear out, you won’t have to chuck the whole thing. Just replace the one or two cells as needed. It’ll do up to 65W from one of the USB-C ports, and there are additional ports to charge more things, if you need ’em.
It’s made mostly of aluminium alloy, with the top part using certified ocean-bound plastic. So not only are you keeping your gear charged, but you’re also saving the turtles from the horrors of microplastics.
The Edge isn’t technically available yet. That will depend on how well its Kickstarter does. But it already blew past its goal of $6,768 (R111,530), so there’s a good chance it will make it to the desks and bags of backers. That could be you if you constantly find yourself running out of juice. You’ve got 28 days to benefit from the ‘Super Early Bird’ special price of $120 (R2,140). You’ll be paying more thereafter.
