Samsung’s Galaxy AI ecosystem promises to be a major focus when the Galaxy S26 launches. One of those announcements has emerged early. Perplexity is coming to Samsung’s software offering, starting right after the company’s new slate of devices hits global markets.
Samsung describes it as expanding its “multi-agent ecosystem to give users more choice and flexibility.” That’s just the verbosity we’ve come to expect from AI-related copy, but we’re also fairly certain that the South Korean company still uses humans for its PR.
More Perplexity for you
Google’s Gemini is already a solid part of Samsung’s interface, driving (wholly or in part) a bunch of the company’s AI functions. But it seems that more user choice could lead to wider adoption of smartphone-based AI tech. That’s where Perplexity comes in. Also, Bixby, which appears to be sticking around.
Galaxy AI will function as a wrapper of sorts, allowing what Samsung calls its “multi-agent expansion.” Additional AIs — and we’re willing to bet there are more coming — will see Galaxy AI act “as an orchestrator, bringing together different forms of AI into a single, natural, cohesive experience.”
“Users will be able to access Perplexity through a dedicated voice wake phrase, “Hey Plex,” or via quick-access controls such as pressing and holding the side button, making contextual assistance easy to reach when needed,” the company said.
Exact timing hasn’t been outlined, but you probably won’t have to snap up a new Galaxy S26 in one of its many flavours to use Perplexity. Previous generations will likely support the extra AI functions via a software update.
