Netflix may have taken a small hiatus from the gaming scene, but it’s back, delivering games to your TV instead of just your mobile phone. Don’t expect anything too big yet. Netflix is focusing its attention on party games that can be easily controlled from a smartphone. No Red Dead Redemption just yet, in other words.

Still, we can see these doing well for the streamer. Nearly everyone already subscribes to the streaming giant, which is the only requisite to get hold of its extensive mobile — and now TV — catalogue. From Pictionary to Boggle, Netflix Games got a step up. Now all that’s left is to add proper controller support.
Games currently available:
- Boggle Party
- LEGO Party
- Party Crashers: Fool Your Friends
- Pictionary: Game Night
- Tetris Time Warp

We’re most interested in putting Lego Party, a four-player, well, party game that got its start on consoles and PC earlier this year, to the test. Some have compared it to Mario Party, but without the hefty price of a Nintendo Switch or the game itself. How it’ll handle mobile controls remains to be seen. Netflix also confirmed that Dead Man’s Party: A Knives Out Game is also headed to the platform in the near future.
Of course, these won’t just run on any device. South Africa is fortunately on the list of countries getting the upgrade, though Netflix says they will work “on a selection of devices,” without mentioning which. To find out whether your TV or browser is gaming-ready, open Netflix on your TV and look out for a new ‘Games’ tab in the menu at the top of the screen.
