Documentaries Chasing the Sun 2 and School Ties, drama series Koek (cake), and Charlotte Hope in Catch Me a Killer for Best Performance by an Actress have all been nominated for International Emmy Awards.
A fifth nomination for Playroom Live on channel 300 was also nominated in the ‘Kids: Factual’ category, gives South Africa its highest list of nominations.
“As the International Emmys continue to recognise the very best in television, the creativity and calibre of this year’s nominees, from a record 26 countries, reflect the global strength of our industry,” said International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences president and CEO Bruce Paisner.
There are 26 countries among the 64 nominees in 16 categories.

Nomsa Philiso, MultiChoice’s director of content: general entertainment, said:
“We are incredibly proud of our content teams and producing partners whose creativity, passion and commitment have earned MultiChoice a record four International Emmy nominations”.
Chasing the Sun executive producer and director Gareth Whittaker told News24 the nomination “means a shitload” to him.
“The better the stories we tell about ourselves, the better versions of ourselves we become. That holds true for sports teams, it holds true for individuals, but maybe most importantly in this context, it holds true for our country. I am incredibly proud to be South African and to have played a very small part in helping to shape the story of this magical place,” he said.
