It was just a few short weeks ago that Microsoft announced Copilot for Gaming, a dedicated AI assistant that will ensure you never get good enough to play ranked games ever again. Well, it’s here, and while it’s not quite as OP as a Call of Duty aimbot, it will help you over at least a few game hurdles.
Provided, that is, you’re okay with using the mobile beta that has just launched. South African gamers can also get in on the action, as we’re among the launch countries alongside Albania, Brazil, Chile, and several others.
@Copilot, is this true?
Microsoft calls Copilot for Gaming the “ultimate gaming sidekick”, adding that it “knows what game you’re playing and understands your Xbox activity, so it can answer any questions about the games you’re interested in, provide links to more information when its response includes web sources, or answer questions based on your account, play history and achievements.”
Copilot integration could be useful, though its functions are basically what was advertised when the SmartGlass app that launched with the original Xbox One in 2013 (that never really went anywhere) was announced. Now with more carbon emissions! Whether adding AI into the mix will allow the function to take off remains to be seen, but that’s probably why Copilot for Gaming is in beta instead of rolling out entirely.
Android users can download the Xbox beta app from Google’s Play Store if they don’t already have access. It seems, based on the URL, to be a straight reworking of the SmartGlass app. iOS players who don’t already have the beta version of the app on Apple’s storefront will have to wait until Microsoft’s “plans to make it available more widely in the Xbox app for mobile” come to fruition. Or they can use the Game Bar on Windows PCs, assuming they’ve committed the heresy of owning an Apple phone and a Windows computer.
