Samsung’s mid-range Galaxy A37 was largely unchanged from the Galaxy A36 that came before it. In the build-up to the Galaxy A38 — likely landing sometime in early 2027 — we expected more of the same from the next generation. But a report from GalaxyClub (via GSMArena) claims that Samsung has something big planned.
Galaxy brain?
Not that big, mind you. You can always count on the South Korean company to stick a new processor under the hood and perhaps tweak the memory configurations. But if the report is true, the Galaxy A38 will finally make the jump to a 6,000mAh battery. While not new to other mid-rangers, it presents a big change for Samsung’s tech.
Samsung’s Galaxy A line has stubbornly stuck to 5,000mAh batteries for years — even inside the more expensive A57. Things did begin to head in the right direction earlier this year when Samsung launched the Galaxy A07 with a 6,000mAh cell. We imagine that a similar upgrade awaits the future Galaxy A58, but there’s no official word yet.

As for the rest of the device, don’t get your hopes up for sweeping changes. Some rumours indicate that the A38 will feature a 50MP main camera, backed up by an 8MP ultrawide and 5MP macro lens. The front will be home to a 12MP selfie shooter. So… the same line-up that the A series has rocked since the Galaxy A36.
You’ll probably pay somewhat dearly for the privilege of that bigger battery. That’s not according to any official documentation accidentally leaked ahead of the launch (though we can expect those closer to the time), but rather a realistic expectation from the world we’re currently living in. This year’s Galaxy A37 launched at R8,000 locally.
