Samsung’s flagship Galaxy smartphones have always disappointed in one key area: the battery. This year’s Galaxy S26 Ultra — the crème de la crème, so to speak — only rocked up sporting a 5,000mAh battery. In 2026, no less. The Galaxy S26+ was no better, delivering a 4,900mAh battery, despite the prices reaching silly levels.
Living up to the Samsung Ultra name
According to China’s 3C regulatory body, two new Samsung phones have been listed, packing the model numbers SM-S957 and SM-S958. The latter would be the Galaxy S27 Ultra, and the other, interestingly, is the Galaxy S27 Pro. Samsung’s middle-of-the-pack flagships have typically had the ‘+’ suffix tacked on, so this is a (potential) change.
Both are listed as featuring 60W wired charging. That’s not surprising in the case of the Ultra, which already offered 60W charging earlier this year. It’s a big jump for the Pro; however, which only offered 45W charging on the Galaxy S26+. 60W wired charging isn’t the most impressive feat in 2026, but we’ll take what we can get here.

It’s not only the charging spec getting a bump. The batteries themselves are due for an upgrade to make use of that faster charging. The Galaxy S27 Pro will reportedly pack in a 5,200mAh battery (yay?) while the Ultra will reward buyers with a 5,700mAh one instead. Again, it’s not the most riveting battery inclusion we’ve ever seen.
This would mark the first proper battery upgrade since the days of the Galaxy S20 Ultra, released all the way back in 2020. We won’t find out from Samsung directly ’til early next year at least, which is when Samsung usually likes to reveal its newest family of flagship devices. We’re confident it’ll have leaked in full before that point.
