First it was the Death Stranding exoskeleton; now we’ve got a pair of Cyberpunk 2077-themed XR glasses to drool over. A series of developer errors marred CD Projekt RED’s open-world RPG, but a lengthy series of fixes ultimately resulted in it being one of the best games of its type ever made. Hopefully, this new partnership with a company called Viture won’t be nearly as difficult to iron out.
If you want a pair of Night City-themed smart specs, you’ll want to act fast. The Cyberpunk 2077 Luma Cyber XR glasses are being limited to a run of 10,000 units — that’s not low enough to panic over, but it’ll surely make them a mission to buy unless you’re keen on scalper’s prices.
Now that’s Cyberpunk

The new XR glasses certainly look like they’re ready to plop you into V’s sinful shoes, though you have to supply your own katana. The smart glasses aren’t substantially different from Viture’s standard Luma glasses, aside from the Cyberpunk 2077 branding and the individual numbering inside the left temple, which means they’ll be packed with tech. The wrapper will set them apart from the original hardware‘s roughly R7,000 price point. For starters, a pair of the limited edition specs will set you back at least R9,300.
For your money, you’ll get a completely branded box and accessory set, including a black case for the glasses and a range of bits and pieces. It’s the Luma Cyber XR glasses themselves that are most worthy of notice, though. Viture’s hardware produces a virtual 152in display via dual 1,920 x 1,200 120Hz OLED displays. Brightness of up to 1,500 nits keeps you out of meatspace no matter where you are, with Harman spatial audio completing your transformation to a fully-digital being.
The headset is powered by… actually, Viture doesn’t say, choosing instead to focus on the masses of screen tech it’s keen to mount on the front of your skull. But this headset, and others, will play nice with all manner of handhelds, including the ROG Ally X, Steam Deck, and a host of phones and laptops. Switch and Switch 2 owners aren’t neglected either, though they’ll have to shell out an extra R2,000 or so for a special dock and adaptor. Sigh… Still, if that’s the price of keeping cyberpunk elite, so be it.
