Become a plastic rock god with this 1,074-piece R1 900 Lego Fender Stratocaster

Lego Fender StratocasterLego does whatever it can to appeal to as many people as possible and this new Lego Fender Stratocaster, part of the company’s user-created Idea range, certainly has the ‘appealing’ part right.

Newly revealed for South Africa, this 1,074-piece set will have fans building a scaled-down version of the iconic axe, with options for either a classic red or black body, depending on whether you’re rock or metal. It launched in SA from 25 October and it’ll set you back R1,900.

Yes, you need a Lego Fender Stratocaster

Which is almost reasonable for what you’re getting. Rocksmiths who build the Lego Ideas Fender Stratocaster will find themselves creating a fair-sized replica of the 1970 edition of the instrument, down to the fretboard, strings and whammy bar. There’s also a fabric strap of sorts, and some cabling so you can connect to your stomp pedal. Oh, and the amp.

Of course there’s an amp, a very detailed 65 Princeton Reverb that’ll stand alongside your plastic slice of rock history. Most of its best features are tucked away inside and out of sight until you remove the panel designed to show off all your hard work.

Also included with this 36cm-long replica? Fender logo stickers, a foldable (buildable) stand for your axe, replica plastic picks, and a booklet detailing the history of the Fender Strat. You probably don’t need that last bit if you’re thinking about picking up a Lego Fender Stratocaster, but it’ll still be nice to have.
