Netflix Tudum roundup: Here’s what you can look forward to bingeing

Tudum Netflix

This weekend Netflix tried its hand at a first-of-its-kind fan event, called Tudum. Here it showed off all the movie and series content the people of the world can look forward to on its platform in the coming months. And it didn’t disappoint.

From new Stranger Things to a Kanye West doccie and a Neil Gaiman original, The Sandman, the streaming service made sure to bring the big names. Here are our favourites from the very first Tudum

The Sandman

While there’s still no release date in sight, it’s nice to know that The Sandman comic will make it to small screens. Originally published by DC Comics, the story follows Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, who is captured and… well, you’ll see. The official teaser released at Tudum may be small in size, but it’s impressive in terms of spectacle and looks set to make Neil Gaiman himself proud.

Stranger Things Season 4

This is only here because it’s been two years, and Season 4 of the wonderfully dark Stranger Things series still has no release date pinned down. We’ve also seen more teasers than we’d like, but it’s all we have for now. This time, we gain more insight into the setting of Creel House. The kids are back, albeit a bit older because that’s how time works.

Red Notice

Who ever thought Netflix would bait away some of Hollywood’s finest? Red Notice brings serious star power, featuring Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson in a heist film. Like you’ll find in anything featuring Reynolds and the Rock, the film is packed to the brim with insanely spectacular action and one-liners. Why else do you cast them, anyway?

Jeen-yuhs

Because spelling is dumb, Jeen-yuhs (pronounced genius, apparently) gives us a look into the producer, musician and rapper Kanye West’s life. Dude has over twenty years of experience in the American music industry, and this doccie follows most of it. “Jeen-yuhs is an intimate and revealing portrait of Kanye’s experience, showcasing both his formative days trying to break through and his life today as a global brand and artist.”

Bridgerton Season 2

The series that managed to grab two Emmy’s at the 2021 awards evening, Bridgerton is getting a second instalment and it’s slated for next year. At Tudum, Netflix gave fans another peek into the wonderful world of Bridgerton before the second season makes it to the platform in 2022 — a proper release date hasn’t been announced quite yet.

Tiger King Season 2

As an honorary mention, because we’re not sure what to think of it: Tiger King is back with a second season, and it’s coming on 17 November this year. We have many questions: Wasn’t he in prison? Is he still there? Didn’t the first season conclude the story? These questions and more are set to be answered in about two months. Hopefully we don’t get a second (seriously) hard lockdown to go with it.
