Oppo launches the Find X3 Pro globally

While Oppo may have only recently launched into South Africa, it’s been making waves in the smartphone industry around the world for a while now. Most recently, it overtook Huawei as the best-selling smartphone brand in China which, as we all know, is a considerable market. Yet the company isn’t planning on slowing down any time soon as it’s announced the latest smartphone in its steadily growing catalogue: The Find X3 Pro.

According to the press release sent out by Oppo today, the Find X3 Pro seems like it could pack quite a punch when it launches globally on 30 March. So what’s all the fuss about? Well, we’ve got a quick breakdown of all the specs you’re no doubt wondering about. While it may not be the biggest, beefiest smartphone on the market, it does seem to pack a hefty punch.

Find X3 Pro

Here’s what to expect from the Find X3 Pro

The Oppo Find X3 Pro clocks it a reasonable 8.26mm deep and weighs 193g with a 6.7in screen that features what Oppo is calling, “a true Billion Colour QHD+ (3216 x 1440) OLED display.” The screen can also reportedly run at 120Hz, so sliding back and forth between menus should be buttery smooth.

You’ll find a 4,500mAh battery confined within the phone’s chassis that’s enhanced with SuperVOOC 2.0 flash charging, meaning you should be able to charge the 40% of the battery in just 10 minutes, which isn’t too shabby. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and a 64-bit octa-core chipset that delivers a CPU speed of 2.84GHz. The cameras on the Find X3 Pro aren’t anything to scoff at either. According to the press release, “Both Find X3 Pro’s wide and ultra-wide cameras feature an IMX766 50MP sensor, co-engineered with Sony.” It also features a 4cm macro focus lens and offers 4K 10-bit video recording.

Yet the weirdest, and no doubt coolest, aspect of this phone is that Oppo went above and beyond for the ringtones and notification sounds: It went and enlisted acclaimed composer Hans Zimmer for all the phone’s tones. We have no idea what any of those sounds are right now but we’re definitely excited to see how many BWAAAAA sound effects have been added to the Find X3 Pro.

While Oppo is launching their latest device on 30 March around the world, South African isn’t necessarily included in that generalisation. Stuff has reached out to Oppo to see whether South Africa will receive the device alongside the rest of the world or if we’re going to have to wait.

UPDATE: “The Find X3 Pro will not be available in South Africa this year. Oppo South Africa is focusing on building its current product portfolio and brand locally. We remain committed to South Africa and are looking forward to other key products slated to launch locally, later this year,” according to an Oppo South Africa Spokesperson
