    Showmax and DStv: how does it work?

    Want to try out Showmax? You don’t have to be a DStv subscriber to get Showmax, but there are some perks for those who are. Here’s how it works. 

    How do I sign up for Showmax as a DStv subscriber?

    Go to www.showmax.com/dstv and follow the steps. DStv Premium subscribers get Showmax at no cost and DStv Compact and Compact Plus subscribers pay R49 a month. 

    How do I add Showmax to my DStv bill if I’m already a subscriber?

    For DStv Premium subscribers
    1. Sign into your DStv account at www.dstv.co.za.
    2. Select My Products. 
    3. Choose the DStv Premium package. 
    4. Click Add Showmax on the Showmax banner. 
    5. Accept the quotation.

    Once you’ve activated Showmax on the DStv Self Service website, you’ll be redirected to the Showmax website to sign up or sign in and start watching. 

    For DStv subscribers on other packages

    DStv Compact and Compact Plus customers qualify for a 50% Showmax discount, whereas DStv customers on Family, Access and Easyview have the option to add Showmax to their DStv bill, but pay the standard Showmax price.

    1. Sign into your DStv account at www.dstv.co.za.
    2. Select My Products.
    3. Choose a DStv package.
    4. Click Link Showmax on the Showmax banner.
    5. Accept the quotation.
    6. Click Add Showmax to proceed. 

    Once you’ve activated Showmax on the DStv Self Service website, you’ll receive confirmation that you’ve been successful. Then you’ll be redirected to the Showmax website to sign up or sign in and start watching. 

    What if I’m already a Showmax subscriber?

    1. Sign in to the Showmax website.
    2. Select My Account.
    3. Manage Subscription.
    4. Add to DStv.

    What’s there to watch on Showmax? 




    Fans of international series can queue up a mega-binge of the best of HBO, from new horror smash Lovecraft Country to Emmy winners Succession and Watchmen. Check out adult animated series from Adult Swim or comedies like Insecure, Bless This Mess or Florida Girls. 

    If you’re into movies, there’s everything from Oscar winners like Green Book to action movies like John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum or family movies like UglyDolls. 

    Showmax also has local series and movies, from South African series like Still Breathing to Afrikaans gems like Ekstra Medium and Suidooster, to Mzansi Magic series like brand-new Izangoma Zodumo and Vula Vala. 

    For something more serious, watch highly-rated documentaries, like HBO’s After Truth: Disinformation and the Cost of Fake News and South Africa’s own How to Steal a Country, about the scandal surround Jacob Zuma and the Guptas.

    Plus, if you love live sport, news and music, get Showmax Pro. Starting from R225 per month, Showmax Pro includes all Premier League, Serie A, La Liga and PSL games as well as a wide range of sports events including athletics, professional boxing and the world’s biggest marathons.
